First Day of Kindergarten!
I attended Aztec Elementary School in the year of 1996. I was shy at first, but I made friends who I still have to this day. My parents were excited for me to start my school career and they had expectations that I would behave and do my best in school. -
My little sister is born
Gracie, my little sister was born 10 years after me. My parents really wanted 3 children and by this time they had a built in baby sitter for her, me! My parents at this time expected me to be responsible because I was the oldest child. Significant Historical Event: Through extreme and coordinated effort, The Pentagon is rededicated after repairs are completed, exactly one year after the attack on the building. -
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
This was a trying time for my family. My youngest sister was only 1 year old and we all had to pull together to make sure my mom got through this. My mom is now a 10 year survivor and she started a non profit organization one year after her surgeries called the Happily Ever After League (HEAL). HEAL helps mothers going through cancer treatments. Significant Historical Event: President George W. Bush announces the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. -
My First Job!
I got my first job at Flo's Chinese Restaurant when I was 16 years old. I have been there ever since. It is a great job and my parents were very excited for me that I was showing some independence. Significant Historical Event: Barack Obama becomes the first African-American to be nominated by a major political party for President of the United States -
High School Graduation
I graduated from Desert Mountain High School in 2010. I graduated in good standing, and my parents were very proud of me. This was a significant time in my life because one chapter of my life was coming to an end and an amazing new chapter was about to begin. -
ASU!
My first year at ASU was a big deal because it was my first year living on my own. It was a big transition from high school to college. My parents were upset that I was moving out because I am their first child, but they had high expectations that I would succeed in whatever it was that I wanted to do. -
Grandma is diagnosed with breast cancer.
My family is extremely close and my grandma is the backbone of our family. We have big Italian dinners every Sunday and when my grandma was diagnosed with cancer it was very challenging for all of us. Just like when my mom was diagnosed, we all pulled together as a family to help her get through her surgeries and chemo. After a year of treatments she is finally healthy again. -
Lucy!
My parents adopt a dog for me for my 21st birthday. I wasn't my usually happy self and when I got Lucy everything turned around for the better and she is like my baby. My parents expected me to take care of her and be responsible for her, which I am. -
Admitted into the iTeach Program
In Fall 2013 I was admitted into the iTeach Program. This was a big moment for me because I finally chose my future career path. My parents are still very supportive of me and they are excited to see what my future holds.
