Christopher Columbus Discovered America
Chirstopher was trying to make a shorter route to Asia and discovered that there was more land and called it America. This is an important event because, if he didn't discover America, we wouldn't be here. -
Salem Witch Trials
Nineteen men and women, all having been convicted of witchcraft, were carted to Gallows Hill, a barren slope near Salem Village, for hanging. Another man of over eighty years was pressed to death under heavy stones for refusing to submit to a trial on witchcraft charges. This is an important event because we wouldn't be able to have freedom of religion. -
The Declaration of Independence
America's Independent nation is much safer to live in. The Declaration of Independence gave birth to what is known today as the United States of America. -
Article of Confederation
The Article of Confederation was the first draft of the Constitution. The Articles were written during the early part of the American Revolution by a committee of the Second Continental Congress of the now independent thirteen sovereign states. -
George Washington the First President
General George Washington was appointed Commander in Chief of the Continental Army of the United Colonies in June 1775. He had an excellent character. He was committed to civilian control of the military. This was the main reason that the American Revolution was successful when most other revolutions have not ended well. -

The Trail of Tears is when they drove the Native Americains out of the United States. -
Civil War
Four years of brutal conflict were marked by historic battles at Bull Run, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Vicksburg, among others. The War Between the States, as the Civil War was also known, pitted neighbor against neighbor and in some cases, brother against brother. -

After trying 15 times Licoln became president.
