This day is probably the most significant and important day for India, as it is the day when they rose their flag for the first time and had their first Prime Minister that day, as well as he gave a speech on that day as well. It was their first day as their own nation. -
Gandhi Assassinated
Gandhi was the third Prime Minister of India. This day obviously important because no country wants their leader to go down and want revenge on who did it. Before his deaths there has been attempts to kill him before so I think he could have gotten help but couldn't obviously. Gandhi was killed by a Beretta and Nathuram Godse was arrested for it. -

One of India's most important people at the time Jawaharlal Nehru died. He was important with India's politics before and after their independence. He was the first Prime Minister of India. That's what made him important with His figure before and after their independence. -

Second War over Kashmir
India and Pakistan had a second war over Kashmir. This is important because both countries wanted this territory after it became disputed. It meant a lot to both countries for the fact they fought over it twice and wanted to call it theirs. The reason they fight over it is because of it being in between both of the countries. As a result of this a lot of people were killed fighting for it. -
Treaty with Soviet Union
Having a friendship with the soviet union is huge for India, especially because of the power that the soviet unit has. It is important because India may not have been the most successful country at the time and the Soviet Union can definitely help them out, especially since it was one of the larger countries in the world and had a good army. -
Indira Assassinated
India Ghandi was assassinated by her own skin guards. Afterwards her son took over. It was brutal as 31 shots were fired at her. She is important because to date she is the only Prime Minister India has had and she was the daughter of Nehru. After the shooting one was executed the other was arrested. -
Cyclone hits Odisha
This was an important event as it left around 10,000 people dead in the state of Odisha, India. During it a lot of people died and the cyclone destructed a lot things in Odisha when it hit it. The storm reached 160 MPH winds. After it, there was a big flooding with many crops destroyed, it was truly devastating. -
Earthquake hits Gujarat
An earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hit the western part of India. It killed between 13 and 20 thousand people. Not only that, it injured 167,000 more and destroyed 400,000 homes. This is significant because it truly put the state in bad place and people were hurt, homeless, and places for treatment were probably destroyed. -
Hyderabad Blasts
Terror attacks were planned as a bombing in Hyderabad, India. It happened in an area that had a lot of people there. Two bombs went off and killed 17 people. The importance of it is as all terrorist attacks, people dying for nothing at all that shouldn't have, and had the country looking for who had done it and respond to it -
Pathankot Attacks
The importance of this is what kind of people were killed during this attack, as they were security guards and a commonwealth shooting medalist. There were a lot of gunshots followed by a bombing. Powerful weapons were used and this was basically a mini war in Pathankot. Other then the few deaths, 20 more people were injured.
