Learned to walk
Learning to walk is a turning point in every child's development. It contributed to my physical development in that my legs physically became stronger. It is also in a sense a turning point in cognitive development. -
Started playing piano
Playing piano contributed to my cognitive development. -
First day of school
My first day of school contributed to my social, cognitive and emotional development. -
First overseas trip
I went on a cruise ship from Sydney and all around the pacific islands of New Caledonia and Vanuatu when I was 7. This contributed to my emotional development in that I was exposed to places other than Australia and it was a huge experience for me. -
New School
I started at Westminster in year 5 after spending 5 years of my schooling life in Port Lincoln. This contributed to my social and emotional development. Social, in that I had to make new friends and meet new teachers and slightly alter the way I acted because of the different environment I was in. Emotional, in that I needed to move cities and say goodbye to all of my friends in Port Lincoln. -
Diganosed with Child Migranes
Being diagnosed with Child Migranes at age 10, probably only contributed to my emotional development. Being diagnosed with child migraines made me feel sad because I knew that it was a permanent part of me and that there wasn’t a lot that I could do about it. It is still a problem for me today, but I have a much better way of controlling it and making sure it doesn’t get too bad. -
First School Camp
My first school camp was to Sovreign Hill in Ballarat in year 5. This contributed to my cognitive and emotional development. -
Started High School
Starting High School contributed to my social and cognitive development. Particularly social, I had to make new friends because of all of the new people starting in year 8. -
First overseas trip without Mum and Dad
In year 8, I went on the junior round square conference to Singapore along with Mr Haines, Aaron Davis, Harley Thomas, Monica McFarlane, Webb Sarris and Hannah Twidale. The different issues and environments I was exposed to definitely opened my eyes and affected me in my social and emotional development. Going to Singapore with school was such a great experience. That was one of the first things I did while being in the high school, and I’m so glad that I did. I learnt so much and I feel that -
Westventure
Westventure contributed to my physical and social development. The physical aspect comes from the amount of fitness undertaken over the duration of the camp. I feel as though I grew as a person and developed my personal and social skills using teamwork and leadership. Westventure was probably a turning point in my schooling life. I, along with everybody else that went on Westventure appreciated the camp so much and I felt that I got so much out of it. It made me feel sad when I got back, but wh -
Camera was stolen
During the music tour in 2012, my Nikon camera that I payed with my own money was stolen out of the bus in Eindhoven. This affected my emotional development because it was something that I worked for and made me very upset. Europe was such an amazing experience. So many up’s and down’s but I learnt so much and saw so many amazing things. Getting my camera stolen obviously wasn't the most amazing experience but after that, I was a lot more careful with my belongings. -
Got my first job
Getting my first job at Cotton On, Marion would have contributed to my social and cognitive development. Having to talk to customers and other employees definitely has a huge impact on how you present yourself and how you talk to people. You learn those personal skills and also skills about working in the workplace. -
Getting Braces
Getting braces would probably have only contributed to my physical development because the shape of my mouth and teeth are changing and still are. -
Chose SACE Subjects
Choosing my SACE subjects is obviously a very big part of school and is very important. It contributed to my emotional and cognitive development. -
Getting my L's/Turning 16
Getting my L's/Turning 16 would probably have only contributed to my emotional development. In that turning 16 is a milestone in one's life, like turning 18 or 21. Getting your L's also gives you something with your name on it and allows you to do something you wouldn't have previously been allowed to do.
