D-Day
D-Day is important because it is the day that the Allied powers hit Germay with force. This was the day of the full force attack on Normandy, France that was a pathway to victory for the Aliied Powers becasue Germany was weak. -
Bombing Hitler
On July 20th, 1944 an officer had planted a bomb at Hilter's headquarters. The explosion killed or wounded 20 people but did not kill Hitler. -
Liberating Paris
In the month of August of 1944, the Aliies liberated Paris. This was to be destroyed by Hitler but he was disobeyed by his generals and so the city had survuved. This is important because after this the Allied powers had continued to advance. -
Battle of the Bulge
In December of 1944, Hitler ordered a counterattack. He called for English speaking German soldiers in U.S. uniforms to cut telephone poles and change road signs to create confusion. The Battle of the Bulge almost succeeded. This is important because it was an attempt to drive a wedge between the Allied Powers. -
Mussolini
Mussolini tried to flee to Switzerland but was captured and executed. This was important becasue one of the dictators during WWII did not harm anyone again. -
V-E Day
V-E Day is important because it is the day that the Germans surrendered to the Allied Powers.
