Visual education was at a rise with help from Thomas Edison who stated that books were becoming obsolete and visuals would be the future. -
AECT Created
The Association for Educational Communications and Technology was created and maintained a leadership role in the field. -
Great Depression
The Great Depression only slowed down the visual education movement briefly. -
Audio Visual and Radio
Visual Ed. went from print and slides to visuals with sound and the radio. -
Film as Training
During WWII, US troops had an easier time preparing and training for battle because of the use of videos. Many military training videos were created after this. This also began Instructional Design. -
Edgar Dale
Created the Cone of Experience. Basically shows the learning outcomes of people and how they remember information. -
Television
Educational television was growing tremendously and the FCC set aside 242 channels for educational purposes. Eventually, the hype died down and many channels dissapeared. -
