The Harvard Mark 1 Computer
Howard Aiken and Grace Hopper designed the MARK series of computers at Harvard University. The computer was a 5 ton device, that had almost 760,000 seperate pieces. It was used by the US martial, and it was in operation until 1959. I think is it important because it was the start of the process of computers, and it gave later scientist/engineers an idea of what to build the later computer with, and what to improve on to make it better. -
First Commercial Computer
John Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly were the peole that created this computer. It was the first commercial computer, and it was also able to pick presidential winners. I think this was important because it was the first computer that was able to select the presidential winners but, unfortanutly it was very expensive. -
The Original Internet
In 1969, the original internet was invented, it was called the ARPAnet. I think it is important because this was the start of the internet, and certain people could now get on the internet for information instead of other resources. -
The First Consumer Computer
In 1974, this was the time that "personal computers" came into place. Now the public could get their own computers. This is important because now more people can purchase computers for themelves, and anyone can have one. Not just the government and other related types of coorperations. -
The Apple Lisa
This was the first home computer with a GUI, graphical user interface. Steve Jobs was the co-founder of Apple computers. This is important because now when people used the computer, they could see with graphics, and not just the keyboard. -
Microsoft Windows
Microsoft and Apple begin their friendly war, Bill gates was the founder of Microsoft. A next-generation operation system that included GUIand a mulitasking system. This is important because it gives people more variety in computers, if somone didn't like Apple's software, then they could simply try the different software; Microsoft. -
New Updated Windows
Microsoft comes out with Windows 3.0 a completly new version of Microsoft Windows, this version sold more than 3 million copies in one year. This is important because it gives people a whole new operating system that is faster and better than the previous one. -
Microsoft Releases new Windows
Microsoft releases Windows 95, and they sell more than 1 million copies within 4 days. This is important because it gained Microsoft money, and it gives people new software to explore. -
Internet on Airlines
Airlines started to introduce methods of gaining internet access on planes. This is important because now when people on planes had to finish something on the internet or someone just needed to use their internet on the plane, it would now be avalible. -
I-Phone 4
On June 24, 2010 the I-Phone 4 is released to the public. This is important because it shows that Apple is coming out with new and improved electronics all the time. The I-Phone 4 was a big thing in history, the phone had many things that people had not seen on a phone before, and having this type of technology it is easier for people to do certain tasks, they couldn't usually do on a phone.
