    A major cultural and religious tradition of South Asia. It has no single founder, no single scripture, and no commonly agreed to set of teachings. Cows are sacred to Hindus. Killing cows is banned in India and no Hindu would ever eat beef. It is an important religion to 15% of the population.

    Philosophy is the study of knowledge. It was originally used by the ancient Greeks. They defined philosophy as the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake and comprised all areas of speculative thought, including the arts, science, and religion. Philosophy is important because it helps to improve critical thinking skills.

    Aristotle
    An ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, he was also a student of Plato. His works included contributions to logic, math, physics, biology, botany, ethics, dance, and theater. He was a founding father of Western Philosophy and his goal was to develop a universal method of reasoning. His work is important because he made significant and lasting contributions to nearly every aspect of human knowledge.

    Christianity
    A religion based on the person and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. It has 2 billion believers. Christians believe in one God composed of three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Christians also believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
    This is important because it is the only way to Heaven.

A Play has talented actors that perform a play or musical "live" on stage. The work is important because it brings theater to life with singing and dancing and tells a story at the same time.

    Famous novel written by Mark Twain,it is commonly named among Great American Novels. The story is about a 13 or 14 year old boy, being brought up by his father who is the town drunk. Huck has a had time fitting into society. The message might resonate with some people today even though it was written in the 1800's. This is why the story is still important today.

    A painting created by Edward Hicks it depicts statesmen and Indians gathered peacefully. It also depicts wild and tame animals gathered with children. The meaning is that even though we seem different on the outside we are all equal on the inside. If time is taken to get to learn about our differences then we can possibly find a common ground and get along with others. The meaning of the painting is important because it shows that peace can be reached

    A Broadway musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton, a Founding Father of the United States. The creator is trying to convey the work and life of Hamilton through music and dancing. The work is important because it educates the audience about an important figure from history. Hamilton was not only a Founding Father, he also founded the U.S. Navy and was the first Secretary of the Treasury.

    A Charles Dickens novel written in 1859, set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution. The author tells the story of life during the French Revolution. The book is sympathetic to the overthrow of the French aristocracy but highly critical of the terror that followed. A classic novel that conveys the life and times during a hard time in history makes it an important read.

    The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. It is important to remember and learn from this to make sure it doesn't happen again.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese air service against the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The picture taken by the U.S. Navy is of the USS WV(left) pictured next to the USS TENNESSEE, which was one of the first battleships to sink during the attack. The Japanese successfully damaged 8 battleships. Pearl Harbor is important because it marked the entrance of the U.S. into WWII.
