In 1965 Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which provided funding for primary education, and is seen by advocacy groups as expanding access to public education for children with disabilities.

Education for All Handicapped (P.L. 94-142)
The Education For All Handicapped Act was passed by congress in 1975 to ensure that all schools receiving federal funding must provide handicapped students the same equal right to education as all other students. This would also mandate the schools to place handicapped students in the most least restricted educational environment.

No Child Left Behind Act
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was set forth to advance the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1975. George W. Bush signed this act and it was set forth in 2002. This act was sought to advance American competitiveness and close the achievement gap between poor and minority students and their more advantaged peers.
