Technology shaping me
There is no doubt that tech has impacted me. One thing that i avoid is dating apps, they seem shallow. By me not being on them i am a little estranged from most of my generation. Also anonymous posting apps like yik yak i avoid because they can do real damage to people. Most people my age have all used an app like that and it is scary what people will say when it is anonymous. I feel like me never using those makes me an outsider from most other people, but for this instance i am okay with that. -
Gmail.com
I had to beg my parents to let me get an email it was my first mode of communication with my friends so finally when i was in 6th grade I made an account under my moms name. I was elated and would call one of my friends to tell him to get on and chat with me. Gmail was launched in 2004 so they had many things other then just email, it was much easier to use by the time i got it then what it originally was. -
Ipod
This was a giant leap i saved for a long time and got enough money to buy a IPod touch 4th gen. It was the coolest thing i had ever gotten and kind of become a friend to me i played games and could talk to people even when I wasn't at my computer. It also introduced me to music on things like YouTube. -
Facebook
Facebook was a big jump for me. I got it later the same year i got my Ipod but it was not as big of deal for me because not much was happening on my Facebook at the time. I did not use it for much more then giving weird little updates and some pictures. Facebook was launched in 2004 and by the time i got on it was nothing like was it origally was, it was a little more private and you could choose who saw what. -
Instagram
My first picture posted was of a very unimpressive sunset. I got insta and within a year racked up 90 pictures the next year 78 pictures then from 2014 to present 20 pictures, needless to say i went crazy right away. The pictures back then were only for my real close friends to see now it is much more of a public thing. You can do so much more then just post pics now you can talk to people post stories the go away which makes the app so much more now. -
Spotify
I got Spotify after i started really liking music it was a step when i got music anytime anywhere. It made me never have to have a time when i didnt have something playing in school it changed how i studied mainly with classical music but still. I haven't stopped listening since then. -
iPhone 5
This was one of the most exciting days of my young life. I had been talking about wanting an iPhone for a couple years slowly wearing my parents down. Then one day my dad said i could get one and now I haven't been without it since. Getting a smart phone defiantly changed how i did things i could talk to people all the time and get on the internet whenever i wanted. I try to not be dependent on my phone but that is a hard battle with people getting mad if you dont message them back right away.
