In the 200s, Polynesian voyagers discovered the Hawaiian Islands. This is important because this is the first time Hawaii has ever been inhabited. -

James Cook comes across the Hawaiian islands in during his travels in 1778. This is important because it caused the English and missionaries to come to the Hawaiian Islands. -
Islands Unified - 1810
In 1810 King Kamehameha I unified all of the Hawaiian Islands. This is important, because without the islands being united some other events in history could not have happened. -
First Missionaries - 1820
In 1820 the first missionaries arrive to Hawaii. This is important because they started the spread of Christianity throughout the islands. -
Hawaii signs a treaty with U.S - 1826
In 1826 The Kingdom of Hawaii signs a treaty of friendship with the United States. This is important because this treaty covered things such as trade. Also more people from the US began coming to Hawaii. -
First Successful Sugar Cane Plantation - 1835
In 1835 the first successful Sugar Cane plantation is started. This is important because the sugar cane plantations brought in a lot of people from all over the world as well as revenue. -
England tries to Claim Hawaii under it's name - 1843

In 1887 The United States gains the exclusive right to use Pearl Harbor as a military base. This is important, because if Pearl Harbor did not become a military base for the United States World War II could have had a different outcome. -

In 1893 The Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown by the United States, which caused Hawaii become a US territory. This is important because there are people who still wish Hawaii was independent. -
Hawaii becomes a state - 1959
In 1959 Hawaii became the U.S 50th state. This is important because Hawaii became a state and was no longer a territory.
