Bastille Day
The angry people of France destroyed the Bastille in France. They destroyed it because the king fired Jaques Necker and this act showed how unfair the King was and how much the people hated him. This event was important because it showed the people standing up for themselves and how they thought the king was being unfair. -
People marching to Versailles
The people were angry and hungry towards the royals because they weren't doing anything good for the people. So they all went to the king's palace and made the royals move to Paris. This event was important because it showed how the people were starting to demand the king for things and they were trying to fight for more justice. -
Flight to Varennes
The king and his family tried to escape to Austria and leave the people because the people were demanding too many things towards the king. But unfortunately the royals were captured in Varennes and sent back. This was important because after this event happened the people lost trust with them and instead of the king watching the people it was the other way around with no trust in France. -
War on Austria
The king declared war on Austria because he believed that the foreign countries would overthrow the government. This was important because it showed how the king was making the Wrong decision and this would upset the people and leave France even more poor. -
Attack on the palace
Austria was gaining territory over France and the king looked like a traitor for wanting to go to Austria and then attacking. So 20,000 people attacked the palace. The king and his family were able to find safety. This was important because the people started to go crazy over this situation with the king being a traitor and not caring about them so they attacked. -
Trial of Louis
The king was tried for treason and at the end was found guilty. So the people had him killed. This event was important because it changed everything and now the people no longer had a king and no one to guide them so they would do things on their own. -
Reign of Terror
After everything the people are guided by Robespierre who wants to get rid of all of the enemies of France and has 16,000 people killed. Later he was arrested. This event was important because it was the last thing that made the people finally realize that they needed a good government to have order in France.
