    Columbus's First Voyage
    "Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492" - Columbus set sail in search of gold, glory and god. He sailed for the country of Spain. He left with the promise of bringing back gold, for they were in war with the Moors and needed more resources. After a few months of sailing they found land what is now North and South America. Columbus did not find much, although he later returned to the area on another voyage

    Cortes Voyages (Part 1)
    Hernan Cortes was a Spaniard who sailed for the country of Spain . He was in search of the 3 G's. Cortes landed in Cuba in 1506. In 1518 he was sent to Mexico. Soon after Cortes is named the governor of New Spain. After taking Montezuma (the Aztec king) hostage, Cortes tried persuading the Aztecs to accept him as their new leader/king. Montezuma refused so Cortes had him killed.

    Pineda's Voyage

    Pineda's Voyage
    Alonso Pineda was another Spanish explorer. Himself and his crew were said to be the first people to ever step foot in Texas. He entered a large bay and encountered many Indian tribes. He then sailed up 18 miles and saw over 40 tribes on the coast. It is believed that he was the first person to report the Mississippi River. He mapped land from what is now Texas to what is now Florida. This later helped a certain conquistador.

    Cortes Voyage (Part 2)
    After killing Montezuma Cortes takes over the Aztec empire. He then worked on claiming the land. He worked on creating farms and started spreading Christianity throughout New Spain or present day Mexico. The King and Queen of Spain spend Cortes ais and they all get sick. Not knowing this was most likely caused from disease they blame Cortes for poisoning them and Cortes then returns to Spain to prove his innocence

    De Vaca Discovers Texas
    After being the hurricane tears the crew they build that get swept away and land on Galveston Island. They barely have any clothes ,food and shelter. They then come across a very gentle tribe (the Karankawa) who nurse them back to health. They also find out that they have lost the other living members of the crew and are stranded. They stay here for approximately 8 years.

    De Vaca's Voyage
    A Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca sailed to North America from Spain in and expedition led by Panfilo de Narvaez in 1527. Everything was going smooth but a hurricane hit and it separated the crew(with about 300 surviving) from each other and they shipwrecked in what we now know as Florida.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
    Fray Marcos and Esteban traveled to New Spain in search of the seven cities of gold. Esteban was killed and Fray Marcos reported back of being insight of 2 cities filled with precious stones, silver and gold.

    Spanish explorer Coronado was in search for Cibola. Coronado was the first person to get to explore Pineda's map. Coronado was guided by Antonio de Mendoza. He also discovered the Grand and Palo Duro canyon .
  • Moscoso's Expedition

    Moscoso's Expedition
    Luis Moscoso was a part of Luis de Soto's expedition . They explored what is now Florida and wanted to obtain gold and other riches from Natives. De Soto died from a fever in what is now Arkansas so control was passed over to him.
