Christopher Columbus

Columbus set to sail for spain to find a new west water route to India or Asia. Instead he found the New world (North and South America) even though he didnt know he did. While bieng in the New World he found Gold, other useful things and Native Americans (Indians). This was very important because since he was sailing for spain and they were broke because of the war with the moors. bringing back gold was very important because of this.

Cortez

Cortez set out to find gold, and he found Tons of it. While searching he conquered the aztec empire. It was important to conquer the Aztecs because they were going to kill them. After he coonquered it he built a city right on top as a sign saying you are not coming back.

Pineda

Feb 1, 1519

Pineda was the first to map the Gulf Coast from Florida- Texas. This was important because then no one would have back then and some of the other voyages in the future would not have come.

De Vaca and Estaban

Desoto and Moscoso

The leader of this exbitition was Desoto and there purpose was to find gold. When coming back he said that texas didnt have anything, the land offers nothing, and there are mean Indians. Since this report spain didnt explored for 150 years after.

Coronado

Jan 1, 1540

Coronado set out to find the 7 cities of gold (Cibola). He found it but it was only an Indian Village that sparkled in the sun that looked like gold. Then some one told him that there was another city that was made of gold run by Amazon women, and named Quivera.
