My influences

  • I felt what flying and falling was like.

I felt what flying and falling was like.
When I was younger I was on a merry-go-round in the park. It was tilted and it was really big so many people could get on. Someone else could get under it and use their feet to make it go really fast. Three kids decided to go under it and the goal was to see who could stay on it the longest. When they started to go really fast kids would fly off. I flew off and unfortunately after the flying part was over I hit the concrete. Hard. I passed out and when I woke up it turned out I had a concussion.
  • I hit my head.

    I hit my head.
As a chidren, my sister and I would play games and act like different people. One time we were playing she was an adventurer and I was a mummy. However, we wanted it to look real so she wrapped me in a blanket and I could not move very well. I tripped on the blanket and I hit my temple on the door hinge. I don't remember much of what happened because I hit my head but it wasn't fun and I got another concussion. I still get headaches because of how many times I hit my head when I was younger.
  • Pure fear.

    Pure fear.
Back in the Bronx I often had to face pure fear and look death straight in the eyes. Every time I took out the garbage. I had to face the rats that were as big as cats. Cats looking for a late night snack would often find themselves in a battle over territory with the rats and the rats usually won. New York city rats are much like rabid beasts on steroids. People who get rid of them are unsung heroes. The main reasons I wanted to move was to get away from them.
  • First time I got on a plane

First time I got on a plane
The first time I was on a plane we were going to Disney world. I had never been on a plane and I was very excited. the lift-off was the best part for me. However, the ride was anti-climatic I had expected a lot more but for the most part, it was kinda boring. I tried my best to stay awake and try to enjoy the experience but all there was to enjoy was the sky which is pretty uniform. Even though I ended up falling asleep I was grateful that I was able to experience what some people can't.
  • That was a big oof.

    That was a big oof.
when I was younger I had a very hard time communicating with other people because of the fear of being judged. I was not social as a child and because of it, I missed out on a lot of fun things I could have done. During my eighth-grade prom, I wanted to ask a girl who I liked to dance but I couldn't do it because of my own mind. I was too scared and vowed to myself from that day forward to never allow myself to become a prisoner of my own mind ever again.
  • I watched all the godfathers movies.

I watched all the godfathers movies.
I was able to watch all the godfathers movies before Netflix took them down. I had put off watching them for a long time. When I found out that they were taking them down in two days I was upset at myself for procrastinating however I was able to do what was seemingly impossible because of how long these movies actually are. each movie is about 3 hours and it wasn't easy however, the movies were great. I did not give up and accomplished a goal I had been trying to accomplish for a long time.
  • I made honors

    I made honors
When I was younger I did not like school and I hated everything about it because I had a hard time understanding the material and I ended up not caring and not putting my best foot forward. This resulted in a huge drop in my grades. When I realized what I was doing was destructive I changed my point of view and was more proactive with my education. I began to get better grades and tried harder. This allowed me to make honors for two years straight. To this day that hasn't changed.
  • I solved a rubik's cube

    I solved a rubik's cube
I was able to solve a Rubik's I had been trying to solve for many years. It wasn't easy but I was able to accomplish this through discipline and patience. I had many people to teach me however many of them were unable to teach me and I had to wait for the right person to tell me how to solve the puzzle that even haunted my dreams because of how close I came to solving on many occasions. I never gave, I kept going and in the end, it paid off and I was able to accomplish my goals.
  • I moved.

    I moved.
Moving upstate was one of the most difficult things I have ever experienced. The difference in cultures separated by a couple of miles is fascinating. It was really hard for me to adjust to my new surroundings. At first, I felt extremely alone. My friends were back home.I had gotten used to accessibilities I had when I lived in the city. I lived right across the street from a park where I could meet my friends and chill. Upstate everything is very far away and for most things you need a car.
  • I fell. (again)

    I fell. (again)
More recently. I was walking with my dog around my house after it had just rained. When something had caught my attention in order to see it better I took one step. My backyard is a slope. I fell for what seemed like days. I managed to get myself up on the way down but slipped again and just rolling. I hit rocks, and sticks, and was quite a bit of pain. The fun, however, did not stop there because my sisters saw the whole thing and laughed for days. The pain lasted as long as laughed.
