Creation of The Vocations Bureau
The Vocations Bureau, created by Frank Parsons, was located in the Civic Service House in Boston, Massachusetts. Establishment of the Counseling and Guidance Training Institutes
These institutes were established under the National Defense Education Act to provide adequate training for counselors whose responsibility it was to encourage math and science majors for college education. The purpose was to increase achievement in the U.S. space programs, so we could compete with other nations such as the USSR, France, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, and Italy.
