Digital Citizenship Now
Currently digital citizenship is discussed with students at a couple of assemblies and when problems with or between students arise. Until the number of incidents decline, there is a need for more instruction/reminders about digital citizenship,especially cyber bullying and safety. -
Present the Idea
Discuss with leadership class the concept of creating a collection of short videos involving digital citizenship to show during homeroom. -
Leadership Input
Review concept with leadership class. Solicit comments and suggestions. Develop list of topics such as cyber-bullying, privacy, and etiquette. -
Create Task Force
Visit leadership class and ask for four to six students who would like to work with Vice Principal and create digital citizenship program. -
Task Force Plans
Vice Principal meets with task force to create a plan, such as a contest, which encourages students to search for and submit videos that cover the list of topics created in the leadership class. -
Contest Begins
Task force and leadership class representatives will visit all classes and present contest encouraging students to submit short digital citizenship videos. -
Contest Ends
Task force meets, reviews video submissions, and chooses winners. Begin process of creating collection of videos to be shown in home room classes. -
Complete Video Collection
Task force meets and completes video collection by placing all videos in one location (folder) for presentation next school year. -
Test Run
Task force will have chosen one video to be shown in all homeroom classes as a test run.Will briefly meet next day to debrief. -
Video Program Begins
First video of program will be shown. Remaining videos will be scheduled to be shown throughout the school year.
