First US Case of Covid Detected
The CDC reported that apparently the first case to be detected here in the US was reported in Washington. This person came back from Wuhan, China while ill and as it turns out it was the virus. The CDC is working with investigators to figure out who else the patient contaminated and is working closely with airports so that they may start screening people getting on board. This is important because it was a vital part of the story now that covid exists in not only china but also the US. -
First Covid 19 Death in the US
Although the coronavirus had strucken all over the world, the first US death occured in a nursing home in Kirkland, Washington. The CDC issued a statement saying that they were sending experts to investigate.This is important because it shows the nation that covid is not apart of our reality and how they must quickly become aware of how dangerous it is. -
Trump Declares a National Emergency
After ignoring and downplaying the severity of the virus, the president, Donald Trump, announced that he was declaring the virus a National Emergency. He worked closely with the government to fund money to use to fight against the outbreak of Covid 19. This is important because it was the starts of all the craziness. It was when quarantine started and when the cases started to increase. -
Trump signs a Stimulus Bill
Due to Covid, a lot of people lost their jobs or were placed on leave leading to a mass amount of people on dis employment. The government worked alongside the president to work out a $2 trillion stimulus bill that would aid those without a job. This is important because during this time citizens were struggling to live without money from a job. The economy started to shift now that people were jobless.
