Dreaming of Digital Computers
After an analog computer is found inflexible and inaccurate, MIT decides on building a digital computer to assist the US Navy. This prject won't be completed until 1951. It's important because modern technology only uses digital computers now. -
The ERA 1101 is built
This is important because it was the first commercially produced computer, and it was first used by the U.S. Navy! -
Improvements bring down cost
Gordon Teal perfects a silicon-based junction transistor. This is important because it brought the price of them down to $2.50. And they were the "electronic brains." -
User-friendly
Douglas Engelbart changed the way computers could be used. By creating the mouse, he allowed the computer to be user-friendly. It's important because it made it possible for everyone to use one and we still use the mouse today. -
First RAM
First random Accessed Memory chip was introduced. It's important because without computermemory, basically half of the computers' use would be gone. -
The First Home Computer
Apple produced the first home computer with a GUI. This eventually leads to modern laptops and computers, and was just a start in Apple's growing success. -

The World Wide Web is launched to the public on Aug. 6! From here, the world was changed. Now things could be stored online and not in libraries. People from everywhere could see the same things and all be connected. -
Google
Google is founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Google is still growing and improving and helps people find what they need on the Internet. It sorts and organizes billions of info. on the Internet and is probably the most used tool in the computer genre. -
Now~Apple's Mac Air
Mac book Air has come out. It's important because all these events have led up to what we have today. This is the next generation of computers. We've gone from computers the size of rooms and virtually no storage space, to laptops without mouses, cords, and lighter than a small book.
