Bartolomew Dias was a student of Prince Henry's school.He believed that he could reach India by sailing around the tip of Africa.In 1847,he led an expedition to reach India,but he only made it to South Africa.This was important because he inspired others to come up with better ways to reach India. -

King Henry vlll nedded a boy to pass the throne but his wife Catherine had a miscarriage,Then she has a baby boy but the baby dies 52 days later.After 2 more miscarriages she has a girl and king Henry vlll becomes frustrated and wants to divorce her but the church wouldn't allow it.After a few more wives he falls in love with Anne Boleyn and she gives him a boy but then she dies. -

The famous Christopher Columbus was an italian and he believed you could sail west to reach the east.He had 3 ships which King Ferdinand and Queen Isabell gave him Nina,Pinta and Santa Maria.Its important because even though he never landed in the US he did make it to the Carribean and find new things. -

Martin Luther was a monk hwo began to question the church.So on October 31,1517 he posted the 95 theses on the door of the wittenberg church.He refused to recant his 95 theses,Then he was excommunicated so he formed his own church.This event was important because his church was more better and people could have their own opinion on what they believed in. -

In 1532,the Anglican church was established.It was formed by King Henry.He formed the church in order to be able to divorce his wife.The pope who was in control of the church's wouldn't let him so he also removed England from the Catholic church.He was now in countrol of the country and the church. -
Jamestown est.
In 1607,King James 1 gave 144 men permission to start a colony in Virginia.It was nemed Jamestown in honor of him.However,his colony did not go so well.The land was very swampy and the soil was bad.In 1608,200 more colonists arrive and by 1609 only 53 people remain.This event was important because it was the very first colony. -

Massachussetts exlpored many different goods like fish,pumpkin,livestock,ships,etc.Some colonists were involved in whaling. -
Carolinas est.
In 1663,Carolina colony was established in 1729.They split into North and South Carolina.They sold Native Americans to the carribbeans as slaves. -
New York est
In 1664,King Charles from England claimed New Netherlands as his own.He named it after his brother,Duke of York,In 1702 New Jersey split from New York.It was important because the colony brought his people together. -
French and Indian War
The French and Indian war was fought between France and England.They both wanted control over the Ohio River Valley.The Ohio River Valley was already claimed by Indian tribes and none were willing to give up the land. -
Proclamation Act
The Proclamation Act happened in 1763 when England was broke.They stopped having wars because it costed a lot of money to buy weapons.This event was important because if the Proclamtion act never existed the colonists would have died out. -
Sugar Act
Parliament had placed a tax on sugar.The colonists weren't happy about that since they didn't have any respresention in parliament.James Otis famous saying was "no taxation without represention".This event was important since James Otis was right and the colonists saw that and agreed. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act in 1765 was placed by parliament.They placed a tax on printed material.It had been the first direct tax on the colonists.They started to boycott and it made a huge impact on the British Economy.It was then replaced in 1776.This event is important because it showed them that they could work together. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was the tax on tea in 1773.It required the colonists to only purchase British East India company tea and they taxed it.On December 16,1773 the sons of Liberty dumped the tea in the Boston harbor.It was important because it was an act showing that they weren't going to do what they were told and they stood up for themeselves. -
1st continental congress
On September 5th,1774 the 1st continental congress met in Philadelphia.There were a total of 55 delegates fromt the 12 colonies since Georgia wasn't represented.During this time the Declaration of rights and Grievance was written.They had decided to meet again in a year.This event is important because its what helped their country become independent. -
Battle of Lexington-concord
On April 18,1775 British troops began to Boston concord.Concord had a militia supply depot and the British wanted to take it before the colonists did.The next morning the British arrive and kill 8 colonists.It was the first ever battle of the American Revoultion.Its important because its what started it all. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch Petition in 1775 was when the continental congress adopts the Olive Branch petition written by John Dickson.It appeals directly to king George and expresses hope for recognition.This event was important because it told king George what they wanted. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris took place in 1783.It negociated between the USA.Great Britain ended the revolutionary war and recognized American Independence.Its important because it ended the war and the US was free.
