  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    This was the first battle of the American revolution when the British army went to take the colonies arms and ammunition. In this battle the shot heard around the world came to be because it was the first shot of the american revolution and so this was a big deal to contest the British army. this was important because it was the begin the american revolution and the road to freedom.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This battle was of great importance because it was one of the first victory for the Americans. this was also a turning point because along with this win the Americans moral and confidence spike up which was great fir the attitude for the war because more people were willing to fight the British because they had a chance to win. This is important because it renewed the sense of independence nad more people were willing to fight for it.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    This was said to be the last battle of the American revolution because at this battle the British army surrendered to George Washington. this is important because it symbolized the end of the american revolution with the surrender of Yorktown.
  • Northwest Ordinace

    The northwest ordinance was established in 1787 from great Britain. The Northwest Ordinance was adopted by the second continental congress by which it is a process of bring new states into the union and a bill of rights guaranteed in each territory. We wanted this because it made bring new states in a lot easier. This was important because it outlined the way the new states come into the Union. Also important because it gave us some of the requirements.
  • alien and sedition acts

    The alien and sedition act was an acts passed by congress in 1798. The alien part restricted activities of foreign residents and their attempts at citizenship. The sedition part restricted freedom of speech in the US, most referred to the XYZ affair and outlawed any false or discriminating against the president or congress. This is important because it was one of the first to over turn something because it was unconstitutional. it also made one of the checks and balances in the government.
  • Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions

    Thomas Jefferson and James Madison made the Virginia and Kentucky Resolution. The states took potion that the Alien and Sedition acts were infringing upon state's rights and were unconstitutional. these states attempted to nullify a federal law. This further the discussion of states rights and will continue for the next 60 years. This was important because ti increased the influence the central government has on the things the country does.
  • Marbury v. Madison

    This was a court case which establish Judaical review. Judaical review is when the supreme court examines a law and see if it breaks anything in the constitution. This strengthen the central government. The man who made the review was John Marshall who over saw the case. This is really important because it gives a check to the Judaical branch which you can over turn any law if necessary.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was acquired by France in 1801 for $15000000. We wanted it to fuehrer manifest destiny and get rid of southern influence. With the purchase we doubled the size of colonial american and put us in a potion to gain Florida. It was important because it got us closer to Manifest Destiny and control of the Americas.
  • Missouri Compromise

    It was a balance of power between slave and free states. This allowed Missouri as a slave state while Maine entered as a free state. This was important because it kept the power of the government equal so one doesn't become to powerful.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    This document was placed to restrict the Americans to European influence or colonization. this document would not be useful unless Britain added the navy and then no one wanted to mess with it. this was important because it showed the ally and control the america had on its side of the hemisphere.
  • Nullification Crisis

    This is when south Carolina tried to nullify the protective tariff because it would hurt their economy. The state didn't have that power so it was deemed unconstitutional but did put up a problem of how they wanted ti not have it. it was important because it showed many powers of the central government dealing with the states.
  • Texas Annexation

    Texas left Mexico and stood for an independence republic but allowed Americans to settle. They asked to join the union but couldn't until the balance of power could be attained. After Americans were killed in taxes, they were annexed into as the Mexican american war happened. it was important because it gave up the spoils of war and balanced power.
  • Mexican Cession

    this was after Mexico last the war and had to give 1/3rd of their country to us in the spoils of war. With the land we were able to balance out the power from Texas. This was important because it balanced out the power of slave and free states.
  • Oregon Treaty

    we found the Oregon territory by Lewis and Clark on their passage to find a Northwest passage but found the territory. Britain also had the territory and over a couple of month we had the the Oregon treaty. A lot of people didn't like it because of the land we got and wanted more and so the saying 44-40 or fight came because they wanted more land even though we never got it.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Was a way to avoid a conflict between the North and the South.it was a five separate bill, four year plan discussion of the representation of the land from the Mexican American war. This was important because it was a discussion of power.
  • Kansas - Nebraska Act

    Kansas - Nebraska Act was a plan to let the people that was living on the land to decide either its a free or slave state. This was with the compromised of 1850. This is important because it gave the power to the people to decide on their state.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    this was the first battle of the Civil war with the confederation army bombing forts Sumter full of union solders. After a long day or taking fire and returning the fire they had to surrender because they didn't have the supplies to survive thee long attacks and would soon die.
  • Bleeding (Bloody) Kansas

    serious of violent crimes in the Kansas territory between 1854 to 1861. It was caused by what the legal or illegal slavery in the state. This is important because it was a confrontation of people on slavery.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    This was the first major battle of civil war with the union army marching in to Virginia to gain control of the capital but was meet with the confederation army. while no one won it was a moral boosting for the south and this helped in the long haul of the Civil war.
  • Battle of Antietam

    this was told as not olnt the bloodiest battle of the Civil war but the bloodist battle in all of american history. so many americans were killed but through that the Union army wre victories but that doesnt take away all the men that were killed. This is important because it was another push for the war to end with the Conferadation also being crippled.
  • Gettysburg Address

    This was speech to honor all the solders that fought at the battle of Gettysburg. Even though it was a short speech it had a major impact to honor those who died and it gave the push to end the war so no more good men will die by their brothers hands.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    The last major battle of the Civil war with the conferdatation army surrendig to the union through the causitys of way with their supplies low and moral depleating. This was important beause it was coming to the end of the war with a Union victory in sight.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Said to be the turning point or the most importnatn engament of the civil war. The battle lasted 3 days and ended with a major Union victory. This led Gerneral Lee to march into Virginia and move into Pennsylvania. This was importnat because it crushed the moral of the South as long with thier supples which soon led to the end of the Civil war.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    This was a document to end slavery and release all salves from their master to a new life of freedom but that promise was shortly lived for anyone. While it said to free all salves it didn't release a single one because there wasn't any in the North and he didn't have the power in south to release the slaves until the Civil war ended.
  • 13th amendment

    The 13th amendment was the abolition of slavery. This made slavery a crime and max punishment for any found guilty.
  • 14th amendment

    The 14th amendment gave anyone the right to vote to any man in the united states.
  • 15th amendment

    15th amendment denied anyone to discriminate anyone based on their race or social profile.
