While not the first tablet (not even the first by Apple tending on the deffiniton of a tablet), the original iPad changed what a tablet could be. It's incredible screen, good looking apps, and fast speed for the time ushered in the mainstream adoption of tablets.

    Minecraft
From its humble origins as a small game made by creator "Notch", Minecraft has grown to be one of the best selling video games of all time. It has spawned several genres, lookalikes, spiritual successors, and remains a culture juggernaut into the 2020's. I first tried Minecraft as a pre-build in 2009 because of my older brother's friend who somehow got into the early access before early access games were a regular thing.

  • Raspberry Pi

    Raspberry Pi
The small but capable Raspberry Pi is a tiny computer, commonly called a single board computer, that can be used in many applications that do not require a very powerful computer. Many hobbyists and educators use it to learn and teach others about how a computer works, how to create software, and how to build your own computer integrated inventions like home automation sensors.

  • DJI Phantom 1

    DJI Phantom 1
DJI has been leading the hobby drone market since their introduction of the DJI Phantom 1, their first consumer drone. While drones were used in the military, it was not until commercial drones like the DJI Phantom 1 that regular people were able to get their hands on the technology. Many use it for aerial photography, racing, or carrying very small payloads.

  • USB-C

    USB-C
USB has been improving generation after generation, with USB-C bringing huge improvements. While additional bandwidth, power delivery, and cables with the same end on both side are great, the real huge leap forward in computer technology was the ability to plug this cable in either direction, facing up or down. No longer would one put a usb in, realize it's the wrong side, then need to flip it over before putting it back in.
