Coming to America
English explorers came to America searching for wealth and land. The problem was that other countries had taken over alot of land in the Americas and when England came they did'nt have alot to claim. -
Sr Walter Raleigh
Raleigh outfitted a military expedition but did not sail with the crew. They sailed to the coast of North Carolina. The new land was named Virginia. When the explorers came back to England they said that the land was overflowing with natural recources. -
Coming Home
John White left North Carolina and went back to England to get more supplies. When he got to England a war broke out between England and Spain and he had to stay and help. -
No Survivers
After the war John White came back to Roanoke but found no trace of the colony or its inhabitants. His wife and family were gone. -
The Only Peice of Evidence
The only thing John White could find was the word "Croatoan” carved into a wooden post. -
(French) Samuel De Champlain
Samuel De Champlain founded Quebec in 1608 but left to explore more Canadian land. The French traded furs with the inhabitants of Quebec without brutality. Inevitably, some battles occurred between the French and the Iroquois. -

Dutch Discovery
The Dutch accidentally discovered North America accidentally when the Lords Seventeen got the English navigator try and find a safe passage to the Spice Islands. Henry Hudson tried to find another passage to Asia by sailing north to the islands Novaya Zemlya of the northern coast of Siberia. -

(French) Jacques and Louis
Jacques Marquette & Louis Joliet explored the Mississippi River in 1673. They were seeking answers to the questions: Was The Mississippi the long-sought water passage to the Pacific Ocean? And were the fabled kingdoms of Quivira and Thegauio real? They only answered the first question. When they reached Arkansas River they turned back because they were at risk of capture by the Spaniards. -
