European countries landed in Veracruz. When Britain and Spain realized Napoleans aims they withdrew and made negotiations with Mexico. -
Cinco De Mayo
French forces came with nearly 6,000 troops and the Mexicans had 2,000. In the end of the long battle the French retreated. The Mexicans only lost around 100 soldiers compared to the French losing nearly 600 soldiers. -
Napoleon ordered a withdaw
