The Emancipation Proclamation

What: Lincoln changed the federal legal status of enslaved people in the South

Why: I chose this event because if this didn't happen we could still be having slavery in the United States

What: Lincoln gave a speech during the Civil War

Why: I chose this event because this speech is very important because it emphasized the separating of our nation, the equality of all people, and how the war was being fought for a principle of human equality
How: Lincoln wrote this speech for all of the Union soldiers that were killed at the Battle Of Gettysburg during the American Civil War -
Reconstruction of the South

What: Lincoln started to plan for the reconstruction of the South during the Civil War

The end of the Civil War

Why: I chose this event because this happening would soon lead to the end of slavery in all of the United States

What: Lincoln was shot while at Ford's Theater

Why: I chose this event because this made Andrew Johnson president, which doomed the Reconstruction and condemning of the South
How: Abraham Lincoln was shot in the back of the head while at Ford's theater but, it wasn't until he went across the street to the Petersen house that he passed away -
End of Reconstruction in the South

What: The federal government made a compromise with the United States which then ended the Reconstruction
