    The French and Indian War
    A war that determined the control the vast territory of North America between France and Great Britain. Great Britain won which caused the Treaty of Paris. I chose this because it is and important part of history. It is important because it had a big effect on the future.
  • Mar 5, 1770 Boston Massacre

    Mar 5, 1770 Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre is the killing of five colonists by British regulars. It was significant because it ignited the Revolutionary War between America and Britain. It was a street fight. I chose this because it showed the importance of what occurred between America and Britain.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies met at the First Continental Congress to discuss actions for the Coercive Acts passed by the Parliament. The delegates decide to boycott all British goods, leading to more acts being passed. I chose this because it is important because it’s the first continental congress.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord is when british troops cut through to Concord, but it was there where the "shot heard round the world" occurred. The Battle of Lexington and Concord kicks the Revolutionary War into high gear. It is important because it was the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War and that is why I chose it as well.

    Signing of The Declaration of Independence
    The signing of the Declaration of Independence was when America declared there freedom from Britain. It was so important because now America is a free, independent country from Britain and America doesn't have to face all of the taxes and dependence from Britain. I chose this because it is a date where we will forever celebrate America.

    This was the first constitution of the United States. Due to a weak government, the Constitution was ratified which had much better laws for America. It was very important because it was the first. I chose it because it made America improve.
  • Shay's Rebellion

     Shay's Rebellion
    Shay’s Rebellion was a series of protests by American farmers against state and local enforcement of tax collections and judgments for debt. These protests greatly alarmed politicians throughout the nation to replace the Articles of Confederation. It was significant because it made politicians change some of America’s ways to make it better.
  • Ratification of the Constitution

    Ratification of the Constitution
    This event is when New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the Constitution. This meant that the Constitution was now the law of the land. It was important because the constitution was very important in many ways which is also why i chose this event.
  • U.S. Bill of Rights

     U.S. Bill of Rights
    When the framers, i.e., group which made the U.S. government, add the ten amendments to the Constitution known as the Bill of Rights. The bill extends and protects the principles of individual liberties and due process of law.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Purchase by America that doubled the size of the U.S. This gave the U.S. control of the Mississippi River to ships farmer's crops so they can get paid. That is why it is important to America. I chose it because it was a very important event that occurred and helped shape America.

    The War of 1812
    The War of 1812, was extremely important. It marked the end of the Federalist party, reinforced the feeling of Anglophobia and more. It boosted national pride and encouraged expansion for America, and helped catapult four men into presidency, one of which was Andrew Jackson.

     Writing of the National Anthem
    The National Anthem is a song that was written by Francis Scott Key about the Defense of Fort M'Henry. This song is a big part of America and it shows how our flag was still flying high above the fort during the American victory. I chose it because the National Anthem is played and heard very many times a day.
  • The Battle of the Alamo

    The Battle of the Alamo
    The Battle of the Alamo was fought for Texas to gain its independence from Mexico. The famous saying "Remember the Alamo!" was shouted as eight hundred Texans defeated a Mexican militia of 1,500 members. This marked Texas' independence which was why it was so important and why i picked it.
  • Westward Expansion

    Westward Expansion
    This is when Mexico attacked the United States, killing a dozen American troops. For two years, both sides fight for the southern west states. America is granted southwest states for fifteen million dollars. This is important because it gained the US more territory. I chose it because without this we might not have all the land we have today.

     Abraham Lincoln Elected President
    Abraham Lincoln was elected 16th president on this day. He was the first president from the Republican party. He was very important because he was the president during the Civil War and slavery times. That is why i chose this event.
  • The Civil War

     The Civil War
    The Civil War was fought between the Union (north) and the Confederates (south) over slavery and state territory rights. This war was deemed the deadliest war in American history. It was very important because it dealt with slavery and the abolishment of it. I chose it because this war affected the US entirely.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    A proclamation by Lincoln that changed the federal legal status of more than 3 million enslaved people in the South from slave to free. This was very important and affected the US.
  • Start of Reconstruction

    Start of Reconstruction
    This is when Lincoln started to plan for the reconstruction of the South during the Civil War as Union soldiers occupied huge areas of the South during this time. This would change America's political life greatly. It was very important.
  • End of the Civil War

     End of the Civil War
    When Confederate General Smith surrendered, this marked the end of the Civil War. This would soon lead to the end of slavery in all of the U.S. It was very important because it led to end of slavery which affected America forever. This is also why i chose this event
  • Assassination of Lincoln

     Assassination of Lincoln
    This is when John Wilkes Booth assassinated president Abraham Lincoln. This made Andrew Johnson president, which doomed the Reconstruction and condemning of the South to being poor and undeveloped. It was a very dramatic event and important. This affected the lives of citizens which is why i chose it.
