  • Soaring to the west

    Soaring to the west
At this time, I was only 10 months old! My family was immigrating to Canada from India in search of greater opportunities. We travelled to Canada by a Lufthansa flight. I was feeling many different emotions at the time including: shock and excitement. One of the vivid memories I have of this day is when I was screaming with excitement and how my mother had to calm me down. Therefore, this event is significant because it was the first time I had ever been on an airplane.
  • Trouble at Centrepoint

    Trouble at Centrepoint
As a toddler, I had a profound interest for balloons. My parents and I went to Centrepoint Mall, as there was a petting zoo there with farm animals. However, once I was done petting the animals I snuck out of the stable in pursuit of a clown who had balloons. My parents were horrified, for they genuinely thought that they had lost me forever. Thus, they went on a frantic search throughout the mall until they finally found me at the dollar store, unsurprisingly with more balloons.
  • Adventure in the Alps

    Adventure in the Alps
At this time, my father was working at Nestle Inc. and had to travel to Switzerland for a business trip. However, he took my mother and I with him. While we were there, we did many interesting activities together. For instance, we got the opportunity to taste many types of decadent Swiss chocolates. However, the most memorable part of the trip was going to the Alps Mountains and walking on them. This event is important because it is the first time I went to Europe.
  • The academic journey begins!

    The academic journey begins!
This was my first day of elementary school. Before that day, I had never attended school for a full day and five times a week. On the contrary, I was in kindergarten, which meant that I only had to go to school for half a day on certain days of the week. Nevertheless, I was able to make new friends and experience student life for the first time.
  • Checkmate!

    Checkmate!
At this time, I was taking lessons quite regularly at the Chess Federation of Canada. I enjoyed chess very much, as it trained my mind to think strategically and I could make new friends at the classes. By the end of all these lessons, I had accumulated quite a lot of prizes. This event was significant because it furthered the development of my analytical skills and was the first time I ever won multiple trophies.
  • Elementary school is over!

    Elementary school is over!
My grade 8 graduation ceremony took place on this day. The day I thought would never arrive, finally did. I had successfully completed elementary school. There were many emotions floating through my head such as excitement, disappointment, and pride. This is because I knew I would miss the cherished memories I had in elementary school, yet I felt proud to be on the honour roll. Therefore, this event is important because it is the first time I received an honour roll medal.
  • A cold body, but a warm heart

A cold body, but a warm heart
I had never built a snowman before, because it appeared to be a time-consuming task. However, on this particular day I did not have any homework and neither did my friend Andrew. Thus, we decided to build a snowman, despite a temperature of negative 20. This task required tremendous efforts. For instance, Andrew and I had to carry heavy blocks of snow. This event was significant because it was the first time I built a snowman and it helped me understand the importance of teamwork.
  • A new beginning...

    A new beginning...
This was the first day I attended Richmond Green Secondary School. Initially, I was nervous because I would be part of the youngest age group there. Fortunately, the students and teachers at Richmond Green Secondary School were very kind. I was able to make new friends easily and feel comfortable in a positive learning environment. This event is significant because it is the first time I went to high school and marks the beginning of a road to future self-development and success.

    Bulls Eye
February 2, 2012 was exam feedback day at Richmond Green Secondary School. Initially, I was concerned about how I had done on my exams. However, upon arriving at school I was shocked and relieved to find out that I had gotten 85.5/86 on my math exam! This day was a milestone in my life because I felt a sense of accomplishment. Hence this exam was significant, as it was the highest mark I had ever gotten on a written exam.
  • Smashing my way to personal victory

Smashing my way to personal victory
Two days ago, I represented Richmond Green Secondary School in the York Region Badminton Tournament. I enjoy playing badminton as a hobby and have never taken formal lessons. I was surprised that I made it to the second round of the tournament. Even though I didn't advance in the tournament I still felt proud that I was able to compete with skilled players. This event is significant because I am the only south-asian member of the team and feel honoured to represent Richmond Green.
