    Dentro de uma época onde os pais poderiam matar os filhos caso eles não obedecessem, então um Pai indica um noivo para a sua filha Hérmia.

    Hermia ama Lysander, Lysander ama Hermia, porém eles não podem se casar, pois Hermia está comprometida com Demetrius.

    Demetrius, ex-namorado de Helena, acaba se forçando a gostar de Hermia, porém Helena ainda gosta de Demetrius.

    Lysander sobrinho de uma tia rica, resolve tentar fugir com Hermia, e resolve encontrar ela em baixo de uma certa árvore.

    Quando o casal chegou lá encontraram todo mundo, pois Hermia contou para sua melhor amiga Helena, que cega de amor contou a Demetrius, e assim grande parte da cidade descobriu.

    Assim como existe um mundo real, existe um mundo das fadas onde também tem problemas.

    Nesse mundo das fadas, o Rei Oberon resolve escravizar um menino que está sob cuidados da Rainha Titânia, que não permite a escravização do menino.
    "Titania has a little Indian boy, and Oberon wants him. He wants to take the boy whit him when he travels."

    Com a Rainha Titânia atrapalhando os planos do Rei Oberon, ele fica muito irritado e manda Puck jogar um feitiço nela, na qual diria que o primeiro homem que ela visse, ela ficaria apaixonada.
    "Then I shall put some Juice in her eyes. And she will fall in love with the next thing she sees when she wakes up."

    Quando a Rainha Titânia acorda, ela acaba vendo um artesão do Rei do mundo real, porém ele já possuía um feitiço, que dizia que se alguém se apaixonar por ele, ele viraria um Burro.

    Ten
    Como a Rainha Titânia o visualizou primeiro ele logo virou um Burro, e acabou se apaixonando pela Rainha também.
    "What Angel wakes me from my flowery bed. please, sir, sing again. it is wonderful to listen to you. and it is wonderful to look at you. in fact, there are many wonderful things about you. I think I have fallen in love with you at first sight."

    Enquanto ocorrem conflitos no mundo das fadas, no mundo real também, com esses problemas todos ocorrendo as fadas resolvem largar um feitiço no Demetrius.

    Twelve
    Esse feitiço faria Demetrius se apaixonar por Helena, e assim todo mundo iria se casar com seu respectivo amor.

    Mas acabam, confundindo Demetrius com Lysander, Hermia com Helena e fica tudo uma confusão.
    "I have to searched the whole Forest, but I have not found an Athenian man to use this love juice on. Wait a moment, who is this? This man is wearing a Athenian clothes. He must be the man who Oberon was talking about."

    No fim do feitiço, Lysander ama Helena, Helena ama Demetrius, Demetrius ama Hermia e Hermia ama Lysander, depois disso tecnicamente niguém casaria com niguém.
    "What have you done? You have put love juice in the wrong person's eyes! And now, instead of bringing two hearts together, you have broken two apart!"

    Depois de ter feito toda confusão, Puck, que fez os feitiços pelo Rei Oberon, resolveu desfazer todos os feitiços.

    Depois dos feitiços desfeitos, cada um começou a gostar de quem deveria.
    "Go quicker than the wind, and find Helena of Athens. She is love-sick, and full of sadness. Bring her here. I shall put some love juice in Demetrius' eyes, ready for when she comes."

    Lysander ama Hermia e Hermia ama Lysander, Helena ama Demetrius e Demetrius ama Helena, a Rainha deixou de gostar do artesão, e ele voltou ao normal.

    Depois disso Puck, resolveu fazer mais um feitiço, esse feitiço seria para que tudo isso que aconteceu fosse apenas um sonho.

    Por esse motivo o nome da peça fica conhecida como, "Sonho de uma noite de verão" e depois de todas essas confusões, todo mundo fica feliz, durante o casamento do Rei do mundo dos humanos.
