Rising action "Conflict" - Mineral and Gem Exhibit
Brendan wants to know about his grandfather. He visits a mineral and gem store exhibit were he meets his grandfather without even realizing it. -
Rising action 2 - Trip to the mall
Brendan gets to the mall to see his grandfather but his mother doesnt want to talk about him. -
Rising action 3 - Mineral & Gem booth
Grandma Gladys realizes who the man is at the Mineral & Gem exhibit booth. She drags Brendan away from the exhibit. -
Rising action 4 - Learning from Ed
Brendan wanted Ed DeBose to teach him more about minerals. Ed DeBose said he would, but he didnt know how Brendan's mother would feel. -
Rising action 5 - Borrowed and Broken
Brendan borrowed tools from Ed DeBose. One of the tools ended up broken. Brendan wanted to return the tools but wasnt sure how to fix the broken hammer. -
Rising action 6 - Rock Club meeting
Ed DeBose called Brendan to see if he wanted to go to a rock club meeting. Brendan wanted to go, so he lied to his parents that he was going to the park. -
Rising action 7 - Stolen bike compounds the issue
When Brendan returned to the park his bike was gone. He wasnt sure what he was gonna tell his parents. -
Climax / Turning point - Learning the Truth
Brendan's dad tells him the truth. Grandpa DeBose didnt want Brendan's parents to get married because his father was black. -
Falling action 1 - Journey for information
Brendan decided he wanted to go see his Grandpa DeBose and ask him for an explanation of what he had done. -
Falling action 2 - Sneaking out early.
Brendan snuck out of the house early before his grandma woke-up. He left her a note explaning he went on an expedition with grandpa DeBose. -
Falling action 3 - Trapped in the dirt.
Brendan and his Grandpa were digging for thunder eggs when the dirt collasped on Grandapa DeBose. Brendan had to try to find help. -
Resolution 1 - Coming clean.
Brendan told his parents the truth that he had snuck out to be with Ed to look for rocks and also ask him for the truth. -
Resolution 2 - The apology
Grandpa Ed came to Brendan's house to give him a birthday gift and to apologize to his daughter for the way he treated her.
