Wounded Knee was a battle/massacre that happened at wounded knee in the Pine ridge Indian Reservation. It changed life at the time because Sitting Bull was killed and it was the end of the Native resistance to the US. it still affects us today because recently the American Indian Movement (AIM) captured Wounded Knee in protest of police harassment of Indians and the police laid siege to it.
