Radissons and Grosseiliers made an unlicened trip into the interior. They built a trading post at Chequamagon Bay on Lake Superior. -

The Hudson Bay Company was chartered. They claimed all the lands that drained into Hudson Bay as their trading area. Their post was located on Hudson Bay and the Indians brought some of there furs there. Then the Dakota Sioux attacked and kicked the Huron and Ottawa out of the western Great Lakes. After this time many Frenchman moved into the region and began trading directley with the Indians. -
Marquette and Joiet
Marquette and Joilet used the Fox and Wisconsin rivers o reach the Mississpi . After this the Fox and Wisconsin Rivers became a major transportation route to the western trading regions. -
New France closed trading posts
By Royal Edict, New France closed all its western fur posts. Trade was officaly abamdoned for 20 years. Illegal traders kept up their operations however. -
Fall of New France
The Treaty of Paris, signed by British and French officials on 10 February 1763, confirmed British possession of New France. France retained two islands off the coast of Newfoundland, St. Pierre, and Miquelon, as well as islands in the Caribbean.
