Parents divorced
My maternal grandparents, Janice and Kevin, got a divorce after an ongoing dispute drove a wedge between them as they thought it would be best for the family and they separated. This was pivotal as my father, only 12 at the time, was beginning his teenage years and with his father moving to New Jersey made these years increasingly difficult. -
High School graduation
Growing up in Haverhill, MA my father graduated from Haverhill high school in 1988. Haverhill is a blue-collar mill town in northern Massachusetts as my dad's family growing up did not have much. However, he used this as motivation, wanting to provide for his family opportunities that he wished he had growing up. Education was important to him as his High School graduation marked the transition between teenhood and his college years. -

Hired at BNY Mellon
After taking a summer internship in college my father was hired to BNY Mellon's wealth management group. Although his initial compensation wasn't a lot, the opportunity to do something of interest and work at a company with lots of opportunities to rise in the ranks was very appealing. -
Tulane Graduation
My father relays to me that his years at Tulane University in New Orleans was the best four years of his life. He had a lot of fun while being able to learn whatever piqued his interest at the time. Graduating with a B.S. in Management and Finance from the A.B. Freeman School of Business he was ready for the workforce. -

Promotion at BNY Mellon
After 4 years of hard work at BNY Mellon, my father was rewarded with a promotion. This was his first promotion but his most memorable because of the satisfaction that came with it. -
Bought first home
After saving and investing a large portion of his income, my father was ready to make the move from a Boston apartment to a house in Newton. Later, whenever we would drive through Newton, my father would show me the house with pride; Thus demonstrating the sentimental value that the home possesses. -

Promotion at BNY Mellon/ Joining a private golf club
The turn of the century marked my father's second big promotion at work. This promotion provided him with the financial means to go on more vacations and join a golf club. To be a member at a country club and play golf was something my dad looked up to as this was not the norm for a kid from Haverhill. Golf is a game that my dad holds near and dear to his heart as it was one of the only ways that he was able to bond with his dad given their tumultuous relationship. -
Just Married!
After going out with my mother for a few years and eventually moving in together, my father proposed and they were engaged. They got married in Rhode Island and it was an unforgettable event. This marked the beginning of my father's childhood dream of raising and providing for his family. -
Became a Father
In the summer of 2003, my mother gave birth to her first son. My father says that it was a surreal feeling being able to hold his son for the first time. My father was also hoping for a baby boy and since his wishes were granted he was very happy. -
Promotion at BNY Mellon
2005 was a big year for my father his successes in work were evident with a promotion. After this promotion, he would now have the title, "Senior fixed income Portfolio Manager". Working at the same company his whole life is very rare but the benefits that came with it were delightful. -
2nd Son is born
In the spring of 2005, my mother gave birth to her 2nd son. This time did not go as smoothly as the first because he was born prematurely. Luckily his time in the NICU only lasted two days but my father says that those two days felt like a month. When he was able to come home, my father had his two boys, feeling gratified as he had wanted this his whole life. -
Moved to Wellesley
After the birth of his second son, my father realized that he needed more space than the Newton bungalow had to offer. Growing up in Haverhill, Wellesley was viewed as a town of old money and my father was proud to be able to call Wellesley home. -

Bought a ski condo
Along with golf, one of my dad's favorite things to do is to go skiing up north. After taking numerous vacations to Woodstock, VT my father had saved his money and decided to splurge on a ski condo. In the future, many family memories would be made and kept here as he has spoken to me about the sentimental value the home holds to him. -
Passing of his Father
One of the more complicated events in my father's life has been the passing of his father. Growing up they had a poor relationship and after the divorce, they had hardly spoken to one another. After talking it over with his mother, my father decided he would attend the funeral which was a good decision because family is still family.
