Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus sailed for Spain, to try and get to China. But did not know there was another peice of land, and claimed as the New World. He claimed the land for Spain. -

Hernan Cortez
In 1519 Cortez landed in Mexico. He met and conquered the Aztecs. And renamed their capital Mexico City. -

Alonso Alvarez de Pineda
Pineda was the first person to map the coastline of Texas. He was exploring the Gulf of Mexico searching for waterways, and mapped as he went along. We dont know for sure if he entered Texas, but we know he mapped it. -

Francisco Vazquez de Coronada
Coronada was a spanish man sent to find the "City of Gold". Which was really Cibola. All they found was a very civilized indian territory, with only houses of adobe. He did some exploring and found The Grand Canyon, and the Palo Duro, and explored much of the Texas Panhandle. -
