    When the Japanese invaded China starting the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Kwantung Army made a big deal out of a small indecent. Chinese forces couldn't resist the Japanese. So they moved south, gaining control from eastern China. They eventually moved up to the interior of China. The Japanese was very committed to war in China. Later, the full scale war happened with the Marco Polo Bridge.

    The "Lighting War" as a term used by Germans. It was a military tactic to cause disorganization among there enemies. That is exactly what the Germans used to over run Europe for more than two years in the war.

    Fall of Paris or as known as the Fall of France is when the Germans invaded France. It went from May to June of 1940. It started when British Prime Minister begged for the French government not to sue for peace because America would soon enter the war. Well the President at the time said, the U.S is willing to help, but knowing Hitler would prelude a formal type of war. Later on, German tanks came and most Parisians already fled. Germans went to work and started spying and giving out arrests.

    This battle was definitely a turning point in the war. During the summer of 1940, the French signed an armistice and quit WWII. Britain then was alone against Germany and there strong military power. But they did have good fighter pilots and an amazing military leader. Although, Germany didn't have no navy left after the conquest in Norway. The first attack was successful and then the second one failed. Hitler soon postponed a landing on the British. Also suspended the battle.

    On December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked Honolulu Hawaii at the U.S naval base of Pearl Harbor. They damaged many American naval vessels and airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died. Afterwards the President declared war on Japan. The attack left the U.S Navy able to rebound quickly from it.

    After Japan invaded Pearl Harbor the attack on the Philippians began. During a month of it, they captured there capital and the American Filipino defenders. Which were located to the Bataan Peninsula. For the next three months the U.S Filipino Army stopped for awhile because of a lack of naval and air support. Soon the U.S General surrendered his troops of Bataan by starvation and disease. Later, they were caught by the Japanese. Then they had to march 65 miles to San Fernando on the Peninsula.

    Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, was the Battle of Midway. It started out when Japan wanted to sink the American aircraft carriers that they couldn't on the attack of Pearl Harbor. So Japan decided to attack other islands close to Pearl Harbor, but it didn't work. Later, messages came about the further operation of the position of Japanese carriers. American combat forces took over and defeated Japan.

The invasion began, British and Canadians took over beaches that were code named. At the end of the invasion many allied troops stormed Normandy's beaches. This later prevented Hitler from sending troops from France to build up his Eastern Front against the Soviets.

American units fought to stem the German advance but it was already defended by the 101st Airborne Division. 106th division was almost annihilated. Soon a shortage of fuel on the Germans side and how the American troops fought through the cold. Proved that Hitler wanted to draw allies in the West. But the U.S army had the most action and caused 100,000 causalities.

    American invasion of Iwo Jima started by a desire to find a place that they could go over and land in Japan without returning all the way to the Marianas or for a base that would assist in a bombing campaign. Yet it was defended by troops, but they were attacked by marine divisions after naval bombardment. It set changes in Japanese defense tactics where they no longer defended at the beach line. Instead the fought inside caves and tunnels that were harder to find. Although the U.S did win.

    This was the last major battle of WWII. The U.S invaded the island of Okinawa but the Japanese were told not to fire on the American forces. They were actually told to watch and wait. The American troops who headed North won a battle quickly. As the battle went on both sides suffered from a lot of losses. But winning the battle put Allied forces within striking distance of Japan.

    Known as Victory Day in Europe and the U.S because in the defeat of the Nazi War machine. Today was the day that German troops throughout Europe laid down their arms. It was a big celebration while most people put out banners and flags to show their joy.

Since 1940 the U.S was developing the atomic weaponry after begin warned that the Nazi's were looking into nuclear weapons. The first successful test of an atomic bomb was when Germany was already defeated. The war with Japan still continued. Later an American bomber landed a bomb on Hiroshima. Another bomb was dropped as well in Nagasaki, so then Japan surrendered.
