    The second Sino-Japanese War happened when China began a resistance to the expansion of Japanese influence in its territory. The war broke out between china and japan at the Marco Polo Bridge. The war lasted for eight years.

    The Rape of Nanking was a mass murder and mass rape crime. It was committed by the Imperial Japanese troops. After the violence ended narcotics were given to the people of Nanking by the Japanese soldiers. Also young chinese women were forced to become slave prostitutes, solely for the japanese soldiers pleasure.

    Germany attacked Paris. The British prime minister had asked France to hold off on suing for peace because they would come to their aid and enter the war. But the secretary of state opposed because they knew that Hitler and the allies would take it as a formal declaration to war. Germany won leading to occupation that would last four years.

    The japanese navy attacked the U.S. naval base. It was a surprise attack. The japanese had planned this out for a year so they could get it just right. The U.S. had seen on the radar that there was a large fleet coming but they thought that it was a shipment of planes that they were expecting. They realized too late that it wasn't the shipment. As a result the U.S. declared war on japan.

    The Bataan Death March was when the japanese forced thousands of american soldiers to walk 80 miles across the Bataan peninsula. The soldiers were not given food or water for days. They became week and some fell behind. The ones who did were beaten and killed and sometimes run over by cars. As a result the japanese officer in charge of the march was executed for war crimes against humanity.

    The battle of Midway was a clash between the U.S. navy and the imperial Japanese navy six months after the attack on pearl harbor. The U.S. had started breaking the Japanese code and knew for weeks that they were planning on attack an attack on a location they called "AF". So the U.S. sent out a false message claiming it was out of fresh water to confirm the attack. The U.S. eventually won the battle so japan decided to give up on expanding to the pacific.

    The battle was between Russian forces and those of Nazi Germany and the axis powers during world war II.The battle is one of the longest, largest and bloodiest engagements in modern warfare. Nearly two million people were killed or injured. Russian forces eventually surround the German troops and trapped them. they slowly starved and winter was coming which they were not accustomed too. This was the first failure of the war to be publicly acknowledged by Hitler.

    Thousands of jews were taken and confined into small areas called ghettos. At one point the ghettos were sealed off by brick walls and barbed fence and if anyone was seen leaving they were shot. Some jews were taken and put in concentration camps.

    The battle of Iwo Jima was between the U.S. Marines and the Imperial Army of Japan. American forces invaded the island and killed all but 200 or so of the 21,000 Japanese forces on the island. 7,000 marines were killed as well. After all of the fighting neither of them could use Iwo Jima as a battle station during World War II.

    The allies came across concentration camps. the germans tried to hide the evidence by demolishing the camps but parts like the gas chambers were left. The germans killed thousands of prisoners. when they would transport them they would kill them if they fell behind and a lot of people died from starvation.

    the potsdam declaration was the terms for japanese surrender. it was made after the war to ensure japan would not make anymore problems.

    The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. the explosion wiped out 90% of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki killing an estimated 40,000 people.
