The mormons leader was assasinated and their homes were being invaded. So they migrated west to Utah. -
California Gold Rush
James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget in the American River. A bunch of people heard about the gold mining and moved there. They were known as the 49ers. -

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
Thsi treaty ended the Mexican-American War. It ended the territorial dispute over Texas. The treaty gave the US present day Texas, California, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. -
Oregon Territory
The Oregan boundary dispute ended after the Oregan Treaty. Great Britain recieved the land north of the 49th parallel and the US gained the land south of it. -
Gadsden Purcase
It was an agreement between the US and Mexico. The US agreed to pay Mexico for a small portion of Mexico. -

Spanish-American War
The US gained the territory of Puerto Rico, the Phillapines, and Guam. It started because the American tariff put restictions on sugar imports and it hurt Cuba's economy. It took place in Cuba, the Philliapines, Puerto Rico, the Carribean Sea, and Guam.
