Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was passed by Congress on May 28, 1830, during the presidency of Andrew Jackson. The law authorized the president to negotiate with Indian tribes in the Southern United about them leaving the US in order to expand westward. The US thought the indains were in there way of expanding so they removed them. -
Trail Of Tears
As part of the Indian Removal Act the cherokee nation was forced to give up their lands and move to an area in Oklamhoma.They called this event the "Trail Of Tears" because of its devastating effects.he migrants faced hunger, disease, and exhaustion on the forced march. Over 4,000 out of 15,000 of the Cherokees died. -
Mexican American War Start
War broke out with Mexico sometime in May of 1846.The American Navy dominated the sea. The American government provided stable, capable leadership. The economy of the expanding United States far surpassed that of the fledgling Mexican state. Morale was on the American side. The war was a rout. -
Mexican American War End
After many battles America won in the end. America took over what is known now as California, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. They paid $15 million for those states. -
Transcontinental Railroad
On May 10 in 1869 they created the first US transcontinental railroad to get from coast to coast with ease. It took seven whole years to build this railroad.Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroad Companies were racing to see who would finish the railroad first. The union pacific won their little race.
