Bill of Rights
"The Bill of Rights is the collective name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution." The bill of rights was made for people to have more freedom and rights. It is known aas one of the most important documents in history. -
Louisiana Purchase
The U.S. purchased miles of land from France. The land expands from the Missisipi River to the Rocky Mountains. The Louisiana purchase was a great deal to the U.S. it was less than 5 cents per acre. -
Lewis and Clark expedition
"In 1803 President Thomas Jefferson guided a splendid piece of foreign diplomacy through the U.S. Senate: the purchase of Louisiana territory from France. After the Louisiana Purchase Treaty was made, Jefferson initiated an exploration of the newly purchased land and the territory beyond the "great rock
mountains" in the West." (Douglas Perry 1) It was the first American expedition to crross what is now known as the western portion. -
Florida becomes U.S. state
"Juan Ponce de Leon claimed Florida for Spain in 1513. But the French were also interested in the territory, and they built Fort Caroline near the mouth of the St. Johns River 1564. A year later, to maintain its control over the territory, Spain destroyed Fort Caroline, and Leon founded our country's oldest continuously settled city in St. Augustine."

Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson..... May, 28 1830, giving the president the right to grant unsettled lands west of the Missisipi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. Some tribes were ok with it but others wanted the relocation law. ("Lobrary of Congress") -
Trail of Tears
The Cherokees had to move east of the Missisipi River. They told them they would get their land in Oklahoma which was where they had to settle. They called it the Trail of Tears because it was very sad, and lots of people died from disease on their way to Oklahoma. The Cherokees did not have any medicines to help cure the diseases. They barely had food and water. -
Mexican - American War
The mexican American war was stemming from the U.S. annnexation of texas around the year 1800 and from dispute over wether Texas ended at the Nuceus River (Mexican claim) or the Rio Grande (U.S. claim). (" Mexican American War") This war marked the 1st U.S armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil............... America Won the war!!! -
Transcontinental Railroad completed
The Transcontinental Railroad made the U.S.A link from the East side to the west. The transcontinental railroad was very dangerous it took at least 6 months to cross it. There was not a lot of food, and there was a lot crossing over rivers and forests.
