Cotton Gin
This was a machine that helped separate cotton seeds from the cotton fiber. It was invented by Eli Whitney in 1793, this invention made an impact because it reduced the amount of time it took to separate cotton seeds from cotton fiber. -
XYZ Affair
It was a political and dplomatic episode in 1797-98. It happened around the administration of John Adams which involved a confrontation between United States and Republican France. That led to the undeclared war called the Quasi-War. -
Louisiana Purchase
When Thomas Jefferson was apart of teh Corps of Discovery Expedition (1804-06), which he assigned Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore teh territory acquired in the Louisiana Purchase. In 1801, Spain agreed to sign a secret treaty with France, that states to return Louisiana territory to France. -
Adams-Onis Treaty
This treaty conisisted of 16 articles that were signed in Adams' State Departmet Office at Washington, by John Quincy Adams, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Spanish minister. -

The war officially ended with the signing in Mexico of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which added an additional 525,000 square mile to the U.S. territory. -
