    The First Republic of Venezuela Was Founded
    Bolívar went to London to speak to the Patriotic Society in favor of independence. Then on July 5, 1811 the Patriotic Society of Caracas declared independence and founded the Republic of Venezuela. The constitution for the Republic of Venezuela gave Venezuela: federal structure, legal equality of citizens of all races, and some military privileges. However, in reality it did nothing for the non-whites.

    Bolívar Announces War to Death Policy
    After the fall of the First Republic of Venezuela, Bolívar announced a new policy, which stated that if one was against the American liberation, and then they could be killed or harmed. This rule was set because Bolívar thought that the Americans could not fight a civilized battle against the Spanish anymore, so Bolívar and his army stepped up. This rule also applied to people who were neutral, making them pick sides.

    Simon Bolívar had won six battles to take back Venezuela from the Americas, and had now entered Caracas. Eventually, he had set up a “base” or grounds in Caracas and made plans there which made Venezuela’s Independence a step closer. He was also given the title of Liberator and assumed political dictatorship.

    Joseph Bonaparte was removed from Spanish throne. Then Ferdinand VII had retaken his throne. Later a Spanish army of 10,000 men was sent to the Indies, leading Venezuela and New Granada to be under royalist rule once again.

    Law on the distribution of national property among soldiers was passed
    The soldiers who had fought through the “hardest years (1816-19)” would be given land by the government, or a “property owning citizen.” This was not considered a bonus, but a payment to the soldiers for their hard work, though the congress changed this to a grant used to their advantage. Bolívar’s original plan had not worked, but the general idea had made its way through.

    Bolívar and his men (patriots) made a perilous journey to fight the royalists’ forces. They had to face hunger, disease and exhaustion. When they finally encountered the royalists’ main forces at Boyacá, their battle had started. The patriots were outnumbered, but in the end the won the battle. When the patriots defeated the royalists’ forces the Spaniards and loyalists fled from Bogota. Leaving Bogota in Bolívar’s hand.

    The Independence of All Provinces Was Declared
    In the December of 1819 after Bolívar got Bogota from the victory over the royalists’ forces, all provinces of the viceroyalty was declared independent. Following Gran Columbia (includes present-day: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Panama) created. Simon Bolívar was the president of Gran Columbia.

    On June 1821 Bolívar won an important battle, it was the battle of Carabobo. A few days later Caracas fell. When Caracas fell Venezuela was finally free from any Spanish rule.

    The Battle of Carabobo was the first real win Venezuela had. Bolivar brought all of his forces together to make one grand army, and took his revolution across Central America. This battle would start the end of Spanish rule in Central America.

    Simon Bolívar Frees Ecuador
    As Bolívar ended another victorious battle, he had not only won the control of more territory, but had freed Ecuador from the grasp of the Spanish. The next day, the capital fell and Bolívar had joined forces with Sucre on the 16th of May 1822.
