  • PROCLAMATION OF 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war.They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation beacuse they felt they had won the right to settle in Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War
  • QUARTERING ACT

    This Act had required colonists to house british troops and provide them with supplies. They did this as a cost saving measure. Most of the troops were housed in New York.
  • STAMP ACT

    STAMP ACT
    ThIs Act required all legal ang commericial documents to carry an official stamp. This stamp showed they have paid a tax on the document.
  • TOWNSHED ACTS

    The Townshed Act suspended New York's assembly until New Yorkers provided housing for the troops. Also,the other acts placed duties, or import taxes on varous goods brought into the colonies such as, glass, paper, paint, lead, and tea.
  • TEA ACT; BOSTON TEA PARTY

    TEA ACT; BOSTON TEA PARTY
    The Tea Act put a tax on tea. And only let you buy tea from only one company. This caused the Boston Tea Party, that was done to show that they didn't like the acts. They also boycotted.
  • INTOLERABLE ACT

    The parliament passed this law as a punishement and warning to the colonies. They where originally called the Coerive Acts, but they were so harsh that the colonis renamed it as the Intolerable Acts.
  • THE BATTLES OF LEXINGTON AND CONCORD

    THE BATTLES OF LEXINGTON AND CONCORD
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the Revolutionary War.Also, the first shot fired by the colonies was known as the "the shot heard'round the world." And now the colonies were forced to pick sides.
  • THE OLIVE BRANCH PETITION

    This petition was sent to the King, it asked him to restore the peace between the colonies and England. "The king rejected it and anoounced new mearsures to punish the colonies."
  • THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDANCE

    THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDANCE
    The Declaration of Independance stated that the colonies were no longer part of the England. And that the colonies were independant.
