Albany Plan of Union
Author, Ben Franklin, wrote this to call for the colonies to unite. The plan ws to have one governent that would collect taxes, rasie troops, & regulate trade. The colonist said no to the plan. -

Washington's Defeat at Ft. Duquense/Ft. Necessity
A French force attacks George Washington and his troops at Fort Necessity in retaliation ffor the attack on the French at the Great Meadows. Washington is forced to surrender and leave the Ohio Valley. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was signed in order to end the French and Indian War. It declared the British had won and they conqured land east of the Mississippi River. -
Procalmation of 1763
This act said that American colonists could not cross the Appalachian Mountains and settle in the Ohio River Valley. The first act to be passed. -
Sugar Act
The act lowered taxes on molasses imported by the colonists. It was passed in hope to end smuggling. -
Stamp Act
This act put a tax on all printed material like newspapers, playing cards, documents etc.. They passed this act in order to get money for the debt they had after the 7 years war. -
Quatering Act
Act said that colonist had to shelter British soldiers. They also had to feed them. -
Sons of Liberty
Formed by Samuel Adams. The organization took to the streets to protest the Stamp Act. -
Stamp Act Congress
Form of p rotest against the Stamp Act. Nine colonies met and drafted a petion to the King of Britian. -
Declaratory Act
This act said that Parliament had the right to make laws and tax the colonies. This was passed because the colonist wanted to repeal the Stamp Act and Parliament they would only repeal the Stamp Act on the condition that the Declaratory Act would be passed. -
Townshend Act
This act taxed imported goods into the colonies such as glass, tea, and lead. This act was made in order to raising £40,000 a year for the administration of the colonies. -

Women form this organization to protest the Townshend Act. The made homemade fabric for clothing and other things. -
Boston Massacre
Street fight between colonists and British soldiers.There wa 5 colonial deaths. -
Committee of Correspodence
Organization that wrote letters and pamphlets. They reported to other colonies on events in Massachusetts. -
Tea Act
Gives the British East India Company the right to ship and sell tea directly to the colonies without paying taxes. It gave them a monopoly -
Boston Tea Party
It was a protest against British taxes.The Sons of Liberty boarded British ships and dumped tea into Boston Harbor. -
Coercive Acts
The series of laws passed were intended to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party. It closed down the Boston Harbor until the Massachusetts colonists paid for the ruined tea. It also forced Bostonians to shelter soldiers in their own homes and banned town meetings. -
Quebec Act
The act was used to govern the Province of Quebec. It was an act of the Parliament of Great Britain. -
First Continental Congress
It brought delegates of the 12 colonies together. The Congress met briefly to consider options, including an economic boycott of British trade; rights and grievances; and petitioned King George III for redress of those grievances. -

They printed money,established post office,communicated with foreign nations, and created Continental army.They also sent Olive Branch Petition to King George III. It was a formal request to the king to protect the colonists' rights & assured him of the desire for peace -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The battle fought on Breed's Hill. The Bristish won but it showed the Americans were not gonna go down without a fight. -
Signing of the Declaration of Independence
The document recording the proclamation of the second Continental Congress. It said the colonies were asserting the independence of the colonies from Great Britain.
