  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142)

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142)
    Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EHA) helped many children with disabilities gain access to an education and public schools. This Act took away some laws that prohibited children with certain disabilities from receiving and education. EHA was reformed in 2002 when it became the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

    Americans with Disabilities Act
    Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), prohibits discrimination on anyone with a disability.   • No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    NCLB was put in place to help all students succeed and meet standardized testing requirements. This gave the states capabilities to penalize the schools if they did not meet standards. The schools then were given targets of improvement if needed. If the schools failed to meet adequate yearly progress (AYP), that's when the state could step in change the school's leadership or close down the school.
