  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The Korean War lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953. This was a war in the early 1950s that was fought between Communist North Korea, who was supported by the USSR and communist China, and Democratic South Korea, supported by the U.S. and the UN. This happed when N. Korea invaded S. Korea so that they could both be under communist control. The outcome was an armistice signed in 1953 with no territorial gains for each side. The event impacted the world by raising cold war tensions.

    The Vietnam War was a cold war proxy war that lasted from November 1st ,1955 to April 30th, 1975. this happend because the north vietnamese goverment and the viet cong were fighting to reunify Vietnam. The NVA- massacred thousand of south vietnamese after the americans had left. The war impacted the world by increasing Cold War tension.
  • Space Race

    Space Race
    The Space Race was a cold war competition that lasted from 1955 to to 1969 between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The race began when both countries promised to send satellites into space for spaceflight supremacy. The outcome was an advancment in space technology and impacted the world by raising cold war tensions.
  • Tet Offensive

    Tet Offensive
    Tet Offensive was one of the largest millitary campaigns in the vietnam war. 70,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launched the Tet Offensive. The offensive lasted from January 30th 1968 to August 17 1968 and occurred in phases. The tet offensive was lainched by the vietcong on the american soilders in south vietnam. Viet cong forces attacked 13 cities in south vietnam. The U.S. continuing involvment in the vietnam war. The event raised tension in the cold war.
  • Ho Chi Minh

    Ho Chi Minh
    Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890- Sep. 2, 1969) was a Vietnamese communist revolutionary and the first president of Vietnam from 1945 to 1969. Minh established a communist government in Vietnam, which eventually went to war with the U.S. who tried to prevent communism. This happened because Vietnam wanted independence from France in 1945 and got it. The outcome was that Minh established a communist government with Soviet backing. This impacted the world by showing that communism was spreading.
  • Kent State

    Kent State
    The shootings at Kent State University occurred on May 4, 1970. The event was a clash between college students at Kent State protesting U.S. involvment in the Vietnam War and Ohio National Guard. The event happened when college students started questioning the motives of the U.S. in Vietnam. The outcome was the National Guard opening fire on the protestors, killing four students and injuring nine others. The event impacted the world by starting a public outrage, and more Anti war sentiment.
  • Iran Hostage Crisis

    Iran Hostage Crisis
    The Iran Hostage Crisis was a diplomatic crisis that lasted from Novemeber 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981. The diplomatic crisis was between the U.S. and Iran when 52 American diplomats and citizens were held hostage for 444 days. This happened when Iranian students took over the U.S. embassy in Tehran. The outcome was that the hostages were released after Iraq invaded Iran. The event impacted the rest of the world by escalating cold war tensions.
  • Iran Contra Affair

    Iran Contra Affair
    The iran contra affair was a secret arrangement to provide funds to the Nicaraguan contra rebels from profits, lasted from 1985 to 1987. The main players was the U.S, iran, and the contras. The contra affair happend because of the internal US confrontation between ronald regand and the democratic congress. The outcome of the the event was that 14 members of the Reagan administration were indicted. This impacted the world by increasing political turmoil in central America and the middle east.
  • Gulf War

    The Gulf War was a conflict in the middle east that lasted from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991. The war was fought between a coalition of 34 countries being led by the U.S. and Iraq. The war broke out in response to Iraq invading and taking over the country of Kuwait. The outcome was a victory for the coalition, the liberation of Kuwait, and the fall of the Iraqi government and deposing of Saddam Hussein. This impacted the world by causing the middle east to become more politically unstable
  • 9/11

    9/11
    The terrorist attacks occurred on September 11th 2001. 9/11 was a series of four cordinated terrorist attacks. The main players were the Islamic terrorist group Al- Qaeda who attacked the United States. The attack happened when the terrorists hijacked 4 planes , twocrashed into the World Trade Centers, one into the Pentagon building, and one crashed in a field. The event caused the world to laucnh a War on Terrorism.
  • War in Afghanistan

    War in Afghanistan
    The war in Afghanistan is a conflict between a coalition led by the U.S. and various Islamic extremists in Afghanistan. It lasted from October 7, 2001 to December 28, 2014. The conflict broke out when the Taliban government refused to hand over Osama Bin Laden and get rid of Al-Qaeda and the U.S. invaded to get rid of the terrorist group. The outcome resulted in the killing of Bin Laden in 2011 and the beginning of U.S. withdrawl. The event impacted the world by giving rise to terrorist groups.
  • Iraq War

    The Iraq War was a conflict that lasted from 2003 to 2011 that was fought between a U.S. led coalition and Iraq. This happened in an effort to get rid of any possible weapons of mass destruction owned by Iraq. The outcome was the toppling of Saddam Hussein and his regime. This impacted the world by giving rise to muslum terrorist groups and their hostility to America.
