Nursing Research Proposal Development:
+ During this course you will begin to develop your dissertation topic and study.
+ You will work with your dissertation chair.
+ You should complete your IRB application no later than October 1 of this semester.

Nursing Research Feasibility Practicum:
+ Research experience to assess rigor of the dissertation research proposal.
+ You will actually conduct your dissertation study with a small sample to determine if your methodology works as planned, or if changes are needed prior to implementing the full study.
+ Data collection will stop after enough feasibility data is collected in this course. -

Defend PhD Portfolio
With your Portfolio Advising Committee, schedule a date to defend your portfolio. Upon successful completion, your committee chair will submit the Request for Admission to Candidacy to the Graduate School.

Dissertation I:
+ Identify your dissertation committee.
+ Write chapters 1-3 (if choosing the 2 manuscript option you may write and/or submit the first manuscript).
+ Write the 10 page prospectus/proposal.
+ Successfully defend the proposal and submit materials to the Graduate School for approval to advance (usually takes about 2 weeks).
+ Note: No data will be collected during this phase.
+ You may enroll in this course as many times as necessary to complete the prospectus. -

Dissertation II:
+ Once approval is received from the Graduate School, you may resume data collection for the full study.
+ After collecting data, you will complete data analysis.
+ Write chapters 4 & 5 (if you chose the 2 manuscript option, you will complete the manuscripts during this phase).
+ Defend your dissertation.
+ You may enroll in this course as many times as necessary to complete your data collection, analysis and reporting.
