At the Chichicastenango Market, find a textile vendor and learn how to weave a small textile using the traditional Guatemalan methods. Sew a pattern or design onto the textile that you have woven to make a product of Chichicastenango's MATERIAL CULTURE(things that are made or constructed), therefore making a CULTURAL ARTIFACT(a product of a culture). By visiting the market you have come into the ACTIVITY SPACE (the space within which daily activity occurs) of people in near by villages. -

Cab ride back to Guatemala City International Airport
The contestants will be ready at 3:00 a.m.The cab ride from Chichicastenango to Guatemala City is two hours. It will cost about $85, and the cab will pick the contestants up. They will reach the airport around 5:00 a.m. This will give them 2 hours to get to the gate. -
Flight from Guatemala City International Airport to Rio de Janeiro
The flight will take off at 7:14 a.m. in Guatemala City. It will arrive in Panama City at 11:56 a.m. for a one hour layover. The next plane will leave Panama City at about 12:56 p.m. and will land in Rio de Janeiro at approximately 10:11 p.m. -
Cab ride from the airport to the Itajuba hotel
The contestants will arrive at the airport at 10:11. From the airport they will take a cab to the Itajuba hotel. The cab ride is 30 minutes, and will cost around $12. They will arive at the hotel around 10:45. -
Participating in Carnival Challenge
From the hotel the contestants can walk 0.1 miles to Cinelandia Square. Here they will find street parades that are smaller versions of Carnival. This particular street parade is called Cordao do Bola Preta Bloco, and occurs every year. This street parade has also become very large, even though the millions of people who participate are mainly locals, anyone may join in. Therefore, the contestants will have to find the street parade and participate. in the dancing and music. -
Completing the Carnival Challenge
However, to complete the Carnival challenge the contestants will have to dance the traditional Carnival Samba, an aspect of Brazil's NONMATERIAL CULTURE(beliefs, practices, aesthetics, and values). The contestants will experience the LOCAL CULTURE(a community of people in a place who share customs) by dancing with a local samba school in the street parade, allowing the contestants to experience one of Brazil's CULTURAL TRAITS(single element of normal practice or use in a culture). -
Rio de janeiro Hotel.
After the contestants finish the challenge they can come back to the Itajuba hotel where they were droped off. There is one room for them both with two beds., and cost $89. They will spend the rest of the night here untill they have to catch their next flight in the morning. -

Leave hotel at 2:00 a.m. A cab will come pick you up and drive you back to the airport. The cab ride is about 30 minutes. It will cost about $12, and will drop you off at the airport around 2:30 in the morning. This will give you 1 hour and 30 minutes to catch your flight. -
Flight from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo
Your flight will take off from Rio de Janeiro at 4:00 a.m flying on Linhas Aereas Inteligentes flight 1364. It'll arrive in Sao Paulo at 5:00 a.m. There will be a one hour and 45 minute lay over. -
Flight from Johannesburg to Accra
The next flight in order to get to Accra will take off at 7:20 p.m. on flight 56 South African Airlines and land in Accra at 1:30 a.m. -

Flights from Accra to Santiago de Compostela
Flight 514 on Royal Air Maroc will leave at 8:00 p.m. and arrive in Casablanca at 12:30 a.m. There will be an hour and 30 minute layover. The next flight will leave Casablanca at 2:00 a.m. on flight 9970 Royal Air Maroc and arrive in Madrid at 3:45 a.m. There will be a 3 hour and 15 minute layover. The next flight will leave Madrid at 8:00 a.m. on flight 3878 on Iberia Airlines and arrive in Santiago de Compostela at 9:15 a.m. -
Cab ride from Accra Airport to Cape Coast
When you arrive at the Accra airport at 1:20 a cab will be waiting there to pick you up. The cab will drive you to Cape Coast. This is about a two hour drive. Cape Coast Challenge instructions
For the Cape Coast Challenge you will wake up around 8:00 and should walk down to the beach. It is a short walk from the hotel. Once you reach the beach you will see many fishing boats. These boats belong to the locals. Go find a local who will take you on their boat, and afterwards be selling fish in the market. Then you will go fishing with that local untill around lunch time. The fish that you caught will be taken to the market, and be sold. You will help with all these tasks. -
The Cape Coast Challenge
Fishing is part of the CULTURAL ECOLOGY (the interactions and relationships between a culture and the environment). Fishing is also a HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INERACTION (The recipocal relationship between humans and the environment.) because fishing is these people's source of food. These local fishermen have a MENTAL MAP (image or picture of the way space is organized as determined by the individuals knowledge of the space) of the ocean they fish in because they fish there almost every day. -
Hotel in Santiago de Compostela
Parador de Santiago de Compostela is a close walking distance from the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. It is a 5 star hotel and costs $177 for a room. The contestants will stay the night there and wake up early for their next flight. -

The cab ride will take about 4 minutes and will cost about $2 to get from the airport to Lavacolla. -
Walking the Way Pilgrimage
Once the contestants arrive in Lavacolla they will walk from this town to the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. The contestants will walk on the traditional path walked during the PILGRIMAGE (voluntary travel by an adherant to a sacred site to pay respects or partisipate in a ritual at the site.) The SACRED SITE (place or space people infuse with religous meaning) is the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. This pilgramage is based off CHRISTIANITY ( religon based on the teachings of Jesus) -

Also you will be eating toad in a hole. Which is a dish that was created in Scotland, and is now very popular there. once you have watched the final game of the world cup, and eaten toad in the hole you have completed the last challenge! -
Stornoway Challenge
In Stornoway you will be going to a pub. At this pub you will experience the AUTHENTICITY( In the context of local cultures, the accuracy with which a single steryotypical experience conveys an otherwise dynamic and complex local culture.) of scotish pubs and food. Stornoway has this authentic culture because it is part of a FRAGMENTED SATE (state seperated by a barrier.) This makes isolated. This isolation also allows them to have a different DIALECT (local characteristics of language.) -
