The toddler is now able to climb up on objects such as a bed or even the kitchen table. Also they are able to climb objects such as bookshelves. This forces parents to start really looking into baby proofing their house. -

Potty Training!!!! This is a huge step in the toddlers life. When the toddler learns to use the bathroom it means they are one step closer to preschool and hanging out with other kids. This allows them to develop social skills. -

The child is now able to make simple sentences. Allowing them to demonstrate basic sentence skill allows the child to be able to communicate what they want or able to describe certain things.
