  • Napolean's Invasion of Russia

    Russia fought back against the French suerpower and influenced Austria, Prussia, and Sweden to rejoin the fight against the French alongside the British. This was the turning point of the Napoleonic wars. They helped take down the the French once and for all while thier morale was low from the loss. This also brought discredit to Napolean, because he was no longer the "undefeated wa genius".

    Russo-Japanese War

    The loss to the Japanese did not only bring little assurance to the quality of their leader, but it also brought the international view of Russia down. This also meant that many now viewed Japan as a rising modern power, and brought confidence enough to attempt to dominate all of China, which lead to the second Sino-Japanese war. This also brought up Germany's confidence leading into the second World War, because Russia was a known and feared ally of France previously.

    World War II

    The Russians had the most casualties out of all of the countries involved. New armies were developed afterwards with new military advancements. Russia's armies began to be controlled by the military officers themselves, not the political powers. Russia and Stalin emerged as a new political power after the war with the decline of the British. Stalin still kept in place the restrictions on rights that were there before the war.

    Cold War

    Thoughout this "war" Russia began the long deteriorating process and the eventual breaking up of the USSR. Russia lost all of its former territories with eastern european countries breaking away and claiming independence and autonomy.

    Soviet invasion of Afghanistan

    They went against the United Nations who disapproved of the invasion. Now not only was the United States against them from the cold war, but now the United Nations was angry with them. They also revealed much of thier new military tech to the United States.

    First war with Chechnya

    Peace Treaty between Chechnya and Russia established. Agreements established to release release prisoners of war, but both parties kept some of their prisoners. However the peace was short lasted witht the Second Chechyen war starting only 3 years later in 1999.

    Second Chechyen War

    Chechnya was declared an "environmental wasteland" by Russia after the destruction of several chemical facilities. Trust in Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister at the time, was strengthened after the victory which lead to many political and social reforms.
  • Russia's war with Georgia

    Infrastructure was destroyed in Russia, and citizens were rallying and protesting. Obioulsy Russia and Georgia no longer had politacl relations, and many countries around the world were taking Georgia's side, including the United States.
