    Public Law 94-142
    This was used to support states and localities in protecting the rights of, meeting the individual needs of, and improving the results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.
  • Section 504

    Section 504
    This is one of the first U.S. federal civil rights laws offering protection for people with disabilities.
  • Public Law 99-457

    Public Law 99-457
    This was used to allocate federal funds for the states to develop plans and programs for children with disabilities from the time they are born, as well as for their families, maintaining that early intervention is an important step in their education.
  • Talented Students of Education Act

    Talented Students of Education Act
    This provided small sum of money to support demonstration programs and research regarding the special needs of gifted students, including students with disabilities, or who come from economically disadvantaged circumstances or different cultures.
