BASIC
Also known as Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, BASIC was designed in 1964 by John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz. It is used to create advanced systems for computer programs but can also be used for beginners. -
Plankalkul
Konrad Zuse created Plankalkul(also known as: formal system for planning) between 1941 and 1945, but the concept first published in 1948. He created it for engineering purposes. -
Fortran
In 1957, John Backus created Fortran otherwise known as Formula Translation and it is used in engineering application like designing architecture -
MATH-MATIC
Created by Remington Rand in 1957. It allows everyone to use a wide range of mathematical computer programs. -
COBOL
Grace Murray Hopper invented COBOL in 1959, it is used in the business and finance fields. -
RPG
IBM invented RPG(Report Program Generator) in 1959 to be used as a report building program. -
Lisp
List processing, or its acronym Lisp was created by John McCarthy in 1960 for easy manipulation of data strings. -
LOGO
Language for graphics oriented, or LOGO, was created in 1967 by Wally Feurzeig, Cynthia Solomon, and Seymour Papert. Its purpose is to be used for generating graphics or simple shapes. -

Designed by D. M. Ritchie and K. L. in 1969, it is used for BASIC language source files -
PASCAL
Niklaus Wirth in 1970 created PASCAL, or Preservation And Storage Center For Academic Libraries. It was developed to help people learn how to program and practices good programming skills. -
SQL
Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce created SQL, otherwise known as Structured Query Language, in 1970. They invented SQL to update or retrieve data. -
C
Developed by Dennis M. Ritchie in 1972, it is used extensively in various applications -
ML
ML or meta-language was created by Robin Miln in the 1970s for pattern matching -
C++
Created by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979, it is an extension of the C language and it is more flexible and efficient. -
ADA
Developed in the 1980’s, made by Ada Lovelace, it is used from missile control to air traffic control. -
Python
Guido van Rossum invented Python in 1989. It is used for a teaching program and it can aslo be used to design webpages. -
Visual Basic
Alan Cooper created Visual Basic programming language in 1991 so programmers can change code by moving around shapes and simple things. -
PHP
In 1994, Rasmus Lerdorf created Personal Home Page(PHP) to develop dynamic web pages. -
Delphi
Created by Borland in 1995, its purpose is for fast application development and mobile web. -
Javascript
In 1995, Brendan Eich created Javascript to allow web designers to put code in their webpage. -
Java
James Gosling created Java in 1996 for the purpose of being a simpler version of the language C++.
